This past weekend I went into New York City for an event as a member of the ShopRite blogger panel. I stopped at Ground Zero, where I hadn’t been in many years, since long before 9/11. They’re building there but the site is still very sobering.
For some reason, I found the scene at night particularly haunting.

I think they will always be building at that site. Let’s see it has be nine years. You would think they would be done! Well isn’t that the way we work around here(in the USA) a project takes years to complete, accept if it’s a government or Housing one! It just makes me sick. I think we should have been done with the NYC Tower project.

Haunting is a good word.
I just drove by ground zero in August for the first time. There was a lot of construction, that’s for sure!
That is really haunting, isn’t it? I’m glad to see the rebuilding continuing, though. What a sad, scary day that was.

Thank you for sharing these photos Val. I’ve been to NYC twice since 9/11 and wasn’t able to get to the site either time. I did drive past it and said a prayer, but to see it and the progress they’ve made is so different.
Yes, it’s still a very sobering place. We lived down there after 9/11 about 2 blocks away and even though I walked past there all the time, the effect never went away. We lived about 2 miles uptown when the towers were hit.
I’m really glad that they are rebuilding there. 9-11 will never be forgotten.
