The nurse came today to change the wound vac dressing. Let me begin by saying that she couldn’t get the tape off, I had to help her get that started. This tape really sticks. I got a big surprise as the nurse began to pull the dressing out and off – the foam was stuck to my insides. Each time she pulled on it it felt like she was ripping out some of my insides. Within 30 seconds I was actually crying and cursing and getting a little loud. It took almost 10 minutes to get that thing off of me. My wound was actually bleeding after she got it all out of there. When the nurse put the new dressing on she made a bridge, a second piece of foam between the first piece of foam and the vacuum disc. Also, she used full thickness piece of foam, as the first one put in was only half of the thickness. I am dreading the next dressing change on Wednesday.
