One of my brothers had a very good union job that he got laid off from last year. Around the same time he had his drivers license suspended. So for the last 9 months or so he’s needed a ride to go anywhere. Well I just found out it looks like he’ll be able to go back to work. But until he gets his license straightened out he’ll need a way to get there every day. Historically, anytime my brother has needed to get somewhere he always calls me and asks me to find out this or find out that – directions, train info, stuff like that. Today I was cruising the web and found Public Routes, a site that will be perfect for my brother. You put in your starting and ending point. Then you choose how you’re traveling – car, bus, train, subway or walking. I tried getting from my house to a college not far from here and chose bus. It quickly gave me directions, including bus number and stop information. Very neat! I’m emailing it to my brother. And I may email it to my youngest brother who lives in California, just in case he ever needs a San Francisco city map.
