Earlier today on my way into the kitchen I noticed something on the wall out of the corner of my eye. It was an enormous bug! I absolutely hate bugs. Had it been small I probably would have tried to kill it myself. But this thing was huge! It was like the size of my hand! I was sure that it was going to eat the children and then me. I didn’t even know what to do, so I called for back-up. The vanquisher. The fixer. The make things betterer person. Dad. I knew he would protect us from the godzilla sized bug.

Which turned out to be just a cricket. Dad had a good laugh.
Love you Dad!

lol Ive done the same more than once at work so I get picked on a lot about it! I hate bugs!!!!!!!!!!!!
My husband usually rolls his eyes but then gets rid of them. He was working on that day, which is why I called my Dad, I couldn’t have let hours go by with that huge thing in the house, ewww!
Do you have a fireplace? I have heard a cricket on your fireplace brings GOOD LUCK. Dad should have carried it to the hearth, left it long enough to bring your good luck (oh, all about 2 seconds sounds okay to me! lol) then did it in!! LOL
No, no fireplace here! I wish, that’d be nice and cozy.
yeah these are called camel crickets. they like damp and moist areas. We have had a few in our downstairs bathroom. I hate them, the do look like big creatures. yuck!
I didn’t know they were camel crickets but yes, yuck indeed!
Any kind of bug freaks me out.
I can manage something small like an ant, big bugs and ugly bugs really bug me. Pun intended.
Any kind of bug, I despise. I hated going into the basement of the house where I grew up. The place where I’m living now, I have to deal with silver fish, they’re UGLY! YUCK!
Agreed, silver fish are gross, I see them from time to time near the sink. Yuck!
We regularly plan outings, at least yearly, and set off bug bombs while we are out 😉
We’ve done that in the past for fleas, along with boraxing the carpets. I have two cats so setting bug bombs off is challenging for me since they can’t be in the house when you set them off.
haha! I hate bugs/spiders as well! I don’t like to kill then though — I always have my husband or kids kill them 🙂
Karen
If they’re small I’ll usually kill them. This thing was huge!
LOL. I have to laugh, you remind me of my daughter, she screams when she sees a bug like the world is ending and I go running to see what is wrong and it’s just an innocent bug. She doesn’t even like butterflies. Thank you, I needed a chuckle today, since my daughter moved out, I miss that. thank you for all the giveaways, your page, the blog and all the info you give us.
You are very welcome! You probably would have enjoyed being here last night, my son and I saw something with a lot of legs that while not as big as the cricket was equally yucky.
I can totally relate! I am so afraid of bugs, mostly spiders it drives my husband nuts!
I don’t like spiders either, but usually I’ll kill them myself if I’ve got like a dozen paper towels.
When we feel like we’re being attacked we always turn to good old dad. After I married and my dad had passed my husband quickly and proudly stepped in to fill his shoes, and this time of year when it’s cold outside they too are looking for a warmer place. Crickets get a second chance walk back outside because I hear if you find them in your home they’re good luck however, spiders make it down the drain, sorry bugs !!!
I hadn’t heard crickets in the home were good luck. Maybe not so much in our case, since he’s dead now.
I copied this just FYI to verify, hoax or not,and this could just be an old wives tale..but for others who have also not heard this you can check any of these out at:

Ewwwww! Cricket pictures. LOL. Thanks for sharing.
Lol…….my 6’8″ son screams like a baby when he spies a spider.
How old is he?
HAHA!! Thanks for posting something silly, because I have done silly things like that too!!
LOL Good one! I am terrified of spiders! Almost killed myself in the shower once when I saw a giant hairy spider on my shoulder, screamed and jumped out before realizing it was my hair! LOL
Ha, that actually happened to me yesterday sort of. I looked down at the bathroom floor and thought it was a giant spider but it was a small tangle I’d worked out of my hair.
