DIY I Love You Valentine’s Day Card Craft
Materials Needed
• red and white construction board
• a small piece of brown cardboard (with zigzag lining in the middle)
• a piece of wooden skewer
• red glitters
• white glue
• a pair of scissors
• a paint brush
• cutter
• hot glue
• old newspapers
Instructions
Step 1: Cut a piece of white or beige cardboard based on your own preference.
Step 2: Fold the cardboard into two equal parts. The orientation for this activity is portrait.
Step 3: Cut a medium-sized heart from the brown cardboard. If you are having some difficulty in obtaining a perfect heart shape, it would be better to draw a heart first on the board for some guidance.
Step 4: Corrugate the brown heart. Use a wooden skewer for this. Insert the wooden skewer on the opening on the sides of the board heart and slowly lift the skewer and pull the upper layer of the board. Continuously do these until you finish the whole heart.
Step 5: Generously apply white glue on the corrugated part of the heart and spread the glue using a paint brush. This should be evenly distributed to maintain best results later on.
Step 6: Sprinkle the red glitters on the corrugated board while the glue is still wet. Make sure that you have an old newspaper to cover the table to avoid unnecessary mess.
Step 7: Let the glitter adhere to the corrugated heart for an hour or two.
Step 8: Cut the letters I, Y, O and U on the cover of the main base of the card or the right side of the folded card when opened using a sharp cutter. The letter I should be placed in the middle topmost part and the letters Y, O, and U at the bottom part.
Step 9: Cut a small piece of a rectangle from the white board. This will be used to fill the space of the letter O in YOU word.
Step 10: Hot glue the rectangular spacer in the middle of the letter O.
Step 11: Place and glue the corrugated heart in the middle of the card in between the I and the YOU.
Step 12: Write your personal note inside the card.
Step 13: Finally done! You can now give your heart-warming I Love You card to your loved one!
This is worth the time since your special someone would definitely appreciate your effort on this. This is simple yet full of heart. This is much cheaper than the ones sold in the market and it would definitely save you a lot. You can add some designs that could personalize your Valentine card. Hope you liked it! Spread the love!
