I like big bags and I cannot lie….
Even before I had children I preferred a good size bag. Then when I had children I would seek out the biggest bags possible. Back when my oldest was a baby they didn’t make nice looking diaper bags. And the totes that were available tended to be very scholastic looking, much like the heavy duty canvas bookbag I used in parochial school as a child. Nowadays if I’m taking a day trip somewhere, especially if it’s with my son, I get out one of my two black totes. They’re certainly functional enough, but they’re black. I’ve wanted a pretty tote for a long time. When I was offered the opportunity to check out one of the bags from the Thursday Friday Spring Collection, I jumped at the chance.
(Bad photo warning. I was having a good day but my hair was not.)
Thursday Friday Something Feathers Tote Bag
I chose the Thursday Friday Something Feathers Tote Bag. It’s height is 13.5″ and width is 20.5″, and it has a depth of 6.5″. It’s a big bag! There are many features I really like about this bag. I appreciate the sturdiness and durability of the 100% cotton canvas. I love that the straps are long enough to make this sit comfortably on my shoulder. I don’t like the feel of a big bag too close to my armpit so I loved that when this bag is resting on my shoulder it hangs at a very comfortable and natural length for me.

Appearance wise the Something Feathers Tote is lovely. The pastel feathers are colorful and fun. This tote could easily be paired with just about anything, from short to jeans to a sundress.

The inside of the bag is fully lined with a fun bright orange cotton branded with the Thursday Friday logo. If you’re the type of person who likes to keep the inside of their bag organized you’ll appreciate the three inner patch pockets, an inner strap closure and a D-ring on the side for clipping key rings.
This eco-friendly, 100% canvas bag is incredibly roomy. I put a shoe box inside to give you an idea of how much room is in there. Two of them would probably have just fit there had I tried.

I also received a set of Travel In Style luggage tags (shown in the second picture down). I don’t know about you but I have had to buy luggage tags in the past. By them at a local department store and you get an ugly generic tag. These tags are fun and stylish, and mean your bag won’t quickly be confused with someone else’s.
I think this is a fantastic bag. It’s the exact size I like for a busy day running errands or a day where I have to carry spare clothes for my son. It’s perfect for business use, with tons of rooms for folders, folios and notepads. If I’d had this when I was taking full time classes at the college nearby it easily would have accommodated all of the books and supplies I carried around in the aforementioned ugly black tote. Finally, it is also the perfect size to be what I call my “travel purse”, which is what I call the oversized bag I call my purse when I travel that actually contains a smaller purse inside. Sadly, it does not have a zipper, which means I can’t use it that way. But I can keep my fingers crossed that a future tote has a zipper, because if it’s like this one I’d snag that bad boy in a heartbeat.
Thursday Friday proves that a functional item can also be fun and pretty.  If you’re looking to dump your old school parochial tote, look in the direction of Thursday Friday. In addition to the Feathers pattern they have a number of other fun prints as well.

  1. That’s a really cute bag. I almost always carry a tote bag with me full of things I need for the boys (snacks, toys, etc) and yours is the perfect size.

  2. What a great looking tote bag. I always look for something that I can easily wash and for something that isn’t too big that I won’t be able to find what I’m looking, or digging for.

  3. I love tote bags when I’m shopping or going out for the day, like to the beach or zoo or something where I need to carry lots. They’re so handy! I love the design on this one 🙂

Basic color to match my attire all seasons; sturdy material perhaps leather; cute detailing/design but rich/lassic; huge space3 for toting; ideally zippered for my spills and drops.
