I have been enjoying checking out different time management games lately. After trying my hand at several restaurant games where you had to serve certain foods, I wanted to try my hand at something a little different. Supermarket Mania was the first one I tackled.
Your job in Supermarket Mania is to take care of a neighborhood grocery store. Your main responsibility is to stock the shelves. The first thing you need to do is fill your cart with foods from the stockroom. You click on the stockroom and your cart fills. Then you tap the different areas that you want to stock. Your cart does not stay full, you can get 5 tasks or so done and then you have to go back to the stockroom and fill it again. You also have to clean up spills in the aisles. Later in the game, you help care for the store by watching the clientele, to be sure there’s no theft or loitering. The levels end when the store closes at the end of the day, which usually takes about 2 minutes or so.

As you progress through the game you can purchase upgrades. The upgrades are different foods that are worth more.

The game starts out fairly easy, but it grows more difficult as you move along. By the time you’re several levels in the store can be packed and it gets really hard to keep up. There are two things I wish were different about the game. The first is that on some levels the clerk (you) doesn’t go to the display directly she might go around to the other side. That takes some time and your score is impacted when customers get upset because they’re waiting. The second isn’t really a complaint, it’s part of what makes the game challenging. As you move further along in the game more and more is going on. Occasionally it’s a little hard to see things because other things are in the way. The game is definitely challenging but turns out to be quite enjoyable.
