I remember making soap a couple of times as a child. Boy have times changed! Now we can make all kinds of soaps at home, including sugar scrub bars.
A simple sugar scrub bar can help you get softer, smoother skin. Everyone’s skin is affected by hormones, diet, weather and other factors. Sugar is a naturally gentle abrasive that can remove dead skin. Sugar granules help remove dead skin and brighten dull skin, leaving smooth, healthy-looking skin in its place. Sugar is a natural humectant, so it doesn’t strip moisture from your skin.
If you’ve never used a sugar scrub, it’s easy! You’ll want to use the sugar scrub after you have cleaned your face. Simply wet the sugar scrub bar and gently massage with your hands in small circles. Once you have finished applying, just rinse thoroughly with warm water and pat dry.
These sugar scrub bars should be stored in an airtight glass container.

Equipment Needed
Simple Serenity Sugar Soap Scrub Mold By ArtMinds (found at Michaels)
Ingredients/Supplies
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/16 pound (1 cube) mango & shea glycerin melt & pour soap base
- 1/4 cup pure cane sugar
- 7 drops Strawberry scented fragrance oil
- 1 drop Cherry colored soap colorant
Instructions
Melt the soap base in the microwave on high for about 15 seconds.
Mix in the olive oil, sugar, fragrance oil and soap colorant. Stir well. If it is starting to thicken, put it back in the microwave for 5-10 seconds.
Pour the mixture into the soap mold and let set for about 2 hours.
Pop the bars out of the mold and store in an airtight container.
It’s great that these can be made at home. The scent must be amazing. Homemade products are great as you know what’s in them.
