Kmart Layaway
It’s hard to believe summer is ending already. I don’t have any idea where it went. It’s equally as hard to believe that Christmas is only 108 days away. That’s not that far. I’m sure I’m not the only one a bit nervous about holiday shopping this year. Money’s been pretty tight here. I have to think and spend smart. One way a person can do that is by doing layaway. Many years ago when I first got married we did layaway. It works. It’s a great way to get the gifts you want without having to put out all of the money at once.
I love Christmas. I love giving gifts. I’m very picky about what I give for Christmas gifts. I buy based on how I think the person receiving the gift will feel, no based on price. And, if you’re anything like me, if you aren’t able to get exactly the right gift, you feel a little bad. I take it harder then the person receiving the gift if I can’t give them exactly the right thing. It’s like a form of buyer’s remorse. Buyer’s remorse is not a good feeling. One way to avoid it is by using layaway. By shopping early you can pick out the exact right gifts and noone, including yourself, will be disappointed on Christmas.
If you aren’t familiar with Kmart layaway, you might be quick to jump to conclusions. Here are three common misconceptions about Kmart layaway.

Excuse #1: I’ve never done Layaway before, it seems like too much effort.

Wrong! At Kmart, Layaway is not hard work. No matter how many items you have, you can use Layaway for almost everything on your list without paying a service fee through November 23. You can pay in the store, online or even by mobile phone. Eight or 12 weeks later (depending on your contract) pick up your items and you’re good to go! And, while it’s very helpful at Christmas, at Kmart layaway is available year round.

Excuse #2: I don’t have time to Layaway.

Do you have time to no layaway? I don’t know about you but I hate fighting crowds, which is what happens when I wait until closer to the holidays to shop. If I’m out in those crowds I usually come home not having everything I wanted and questioning my sanity. By planning what you’re going to buy and shopping early you’ll avoid all of the holiday shopping craziness and confusion. And you’ll also have a much easier time finding what you want in stock.

Excuse #3: I’m not a ShopYourWay Member.

Not a problem! You don’t have to be a ShopYourWay Rewards member to use Kmart layaway. That being said, why wouldn’t you want to be? If you are a ShopYourWay Rewards Member and use Kmart Layaway, you will get MORE. Members earn points on every purchase that can be redeemed next time you shop (look for chances to get more points)! Members also have access to secret sales and extra discounts which helps you stay close to your holiday budget. If you’re opening a Layaway contract as a ShopYourWay Member, we’ll also waive your minimum purchase fee through 9/21. Signing up for ShopYourWay Rewards only takes a few minutes (click to sign up here).

  1. I haven’t used layaway successfully. I tried it once, but I didn’t have the patience or commitment it takes to make payments, so I just paid for what i had in layaway and took it home. That was so many years ago that I was able to do that. Now I am not able to do that and I pretty much know that I need to use layaway to get a holiday budgeted and taken care of for my family. I’m going to try to use layaway this year, and I’m starting early. I’m glad it starts so early.

  2. I haven’t used a layaway but it sounds like an awesome idea! It’s impossible to keep presents hidden in our house, so the layaway sounds like a nice place to store them.

  3. KMART is a great store and layaway is so terrific to have available. I just don’t much like the commercials they’ve been doing for back to school this year.

  4. My maiden name means gift giver. I take joy in searching for perfect gifts at rock-bottom dollars. Layaway can help with a big ticket item; however, the additional cost of putting an item on layaway and cancellation fees sometimes outweigh the value since price matching usually does not work with it.
