A piece of background info. I have always excelled at spelling. When I was in school I was always 99% or better in national results of standardized tests.
I finally convinced myself I could handle sitting in the nail salon chair yesterday, so off I went. While I was drying I noticed a certificate on the wall from a “School of Esthetics”. Now I know the word aesthetics, and wondered if the certificate was misspelled. I came home and checked dictionary.com, who told me it was a variant.
Why is there more than one acceptable way to spell something? It’s crazy. Half the people who write can’t spell anyway, so why muddle the issue?
