Jay (Jason Segel) and Annie (Cameron Diaz) are a married couple still very much in love, but ten years and two kids have cooled the passion. To get it back, they decide – why not? – to make a video of themselves trying out every position in THE JOY OF SEX in one three-hour marathon session. It seems like a great idea until they discover that their most private video has gone public. In a panic, they begin a wild night of adventure – tracking down leads, roping in friends and duping Annie’s boss – all to reclaim their video, their reputation, their sanity and, most importantly, their marriage.
I watched this movie with hubby. The movie is the story of Annie (Cameron Diaz) and Jay (Jason Segel), a couple has lost their spark after many years together, despite the fact that they are still very much in love with each other. They both realize this but never really deal with it. One day Annie decided to reclaim the magic and arranges for the two kids to have a sleepover with her parents. Jay arrives home and is very eager to participate in their private celebration. Unfortunately, as is the case for so many, life’s day to day concerns and worries keep surfacing and prevent the couple from being sexually intimate. Finally, Annie comes up with the idea of reenacting all of the positions that are in a book and recording it on video using an iPad. Annie and Jay finally have sex again and have an amazing night. Annie asks Jay to destroy the video and that’s the end of that. Or so they thought.
Jay receives an anonymous text saying the video has been seen. Only after he starts contemplating who could have seen it does he panic. He realizes that although he filmed the video on one iPad, everything on his iPad is backed up to the cloud and saved on all of his devices, of which there are many. Like so many people today, Jay doesn’t completely understand “the cloud”. Truthfully, who does. Annie figures out what’s happened and is very angry. The couple are afraid almost anyone could have the video, and sets out to find the iPad that contained the video. There’s a sizable (and seemingly growing) list of people that could have the video, including Annie’s parents, her potential boss, their friends and the mailman. It takes the words of an online porn channel mogul to make Jay realize what’s really important.
