ABOUT SESAME STREET: BEST OF FRIENDS

It seems everyone has their own favorite Sesame Street friend! Is yours the sweet and loveable Grover? The enchanting Abby Cadabby? The fun and furry Elmo? Or even the grumpy and grouchy Oscar? You’ll be sure to find your favorite in Sesame Street: Best of Friends, a compilation of fan favorite clips containing over 2 hours of content. Sesame Street: Best of Friends uses music and movement as a vehicle to teach math, literacy and emotions. Featuring classic gems such as Snuffy and Big Bird skating in the Ice Follies, to new favorites such as Elmo, Cookie Monster and Elvis Costello singing “A Monster Ate My Red 2,” there is something for the entire family to enjoy. Sing with Rosita and Gloria Estefan, and join Ricky Gervais as he sings a rather unusual lullaby to Elmo. Catch up with all of these hits and more with this latest DVD for the entire family to enjoy!
Now in its 43rd season, Sesame Street is the longest-running program in children’s television. The series has received more Emmy awards than any other show in television history (146), as well as a Lifetime Achievement Emmy Award honoring the 40th year.

MY THOUGHTS
What child (and parent) doesn’t love Sesame Street? I was raised watching it and my kids are too. I love everything about it – the characters have real emotions, there are many educational aspects of the show, and there is always a moral to be learned in every episode. It’s fun, colorful, and engaging for young children.
I was given a copy of Sesame Street: Best of Friends to review, but all opinions are my own. This new DVD from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment brings you and your child over 2 hours of some of the most loved Sesame Street clips. Your child will get to see all of the Sesame Street friends he knows and loves, along with some great music and laughter.
The thing I love most about this DVD, as well as other Sesame Street DVDs and episodes, is that it is so visually entertaining for young kids. With my son’s hearing impairment, it is crucial to me as his mom to find visually stimulating toys, games, and movies for him. Sesame Street’s colorful sets and characters are perfect for him. He might not be able to understand the words, but he sure can see the big, colorful numbers and letters and adorable characters on the screen.
Also, as part of Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational organization, Sesame Street helps bridge the literacy gap with this DVD and all of their television episodes and movies. Sesame Street helps cover important issues that other kids shows fail to touch upon, like divorce, military deployment, and health. You have to love a show that helps promote lifelong learning like Sesame Street!
