ABOUT MORPHOLOGY

Morphology is a hilarious guessing game from Morphology Games, and is meant for at least 4 players, ages 13 & up. It comes with 50 pieces that players can use to “build” words. Depending on the roll of the dice, you might even have to build a word with your eyes closed or non-dominant hand only! The game comes comes with equal amounts of Easy and Hard words so younger players don’t feel left out. Or, for all younger players, Morphology Junior is made for kids ages 8 & up! Morphology was awarded one of the “Top Vacation products of the Year” AND the Timberdoodle “2011 Game of the Year” in 2011! Morphology Junior also has the title of one of the “12 Great Games for 2012”, as awarded by Good Housekeeping.

MY THOUGHTS
I absolutely think Morphology is the most creative game since Pictionary. The two are pretty similar in idea, though Morphology really makes players use their creative skills which makes for even more fun. Though I tend to shy away from games that can’t be played by only two people, my boyfriend and I improvised and played each other without the need for teams as suggested by the instructions. Morphology truly is a test of creativity, though. Try making a fang out of small popsicle sticks, a rope, a ring, a few wooden pieces, jems, and small blocks – not an easy task! But it certainly is fun to try. Oh, and that is an “easy” word!
I do think there could be more pieces to help create words, like different plastic shapes or wooden pieces. There are several blocks and jems that I hardly think will be used, and I think it would have been helpful to have less of those and more items with different shapes. However, I like that there are a lot of pieces and a lot of cards so the game can always be fresh and new with each play. The pieces are all pretty durable, too, so they won’t get wrecked in gameplay.
Overall, I enjoyed this game plenty with just two players, so I can only imagine the fun it can bring to a family night or get-together with friends (which we plan on trying in the near future)!
