I got a DSLR camera almost two years ago. I love taking pictures with it. When I’m going to be somewhere for a while I like to have my camera accessible, instead of taking it in and out of the case. That’s because not only is the case bulky and heavy, but taking the camera in and out of the case slows things down a lot. But, if I left the camera out, just hanging on its strap, I worried that people might bump against it and scratch it. I also worried that I might accidentally get liquid on it because I am somewhat of a klutz. Just check the front of many of my shirts if you doubt me.
I was very excited to get the opportunity to try out a new product, a Camera Coat. My Camera Coat arrived just in time for me to take it on a day trip to Northern New Jersey, where I was going ziplining with my oldest son. I figured since we’d be in Northern New Jersey on a mountain that I might be able to get some nice pictures. But I also knew that I wouldn’t be carrying my big ole camera case around with me. So, it was the perfect day to test out my new Camera Coat.

The Camera Coat is easy to use. It’s basically shaped like a camera. You attach the Camera Case to your camera’s strap with a buckle. Then you place your camera into the Camera Coat, which closes with one large velcro pad. That’s it. When you want to use your camera, all you do is undo the velcro and use your camera. There’s even two little pockets on the back where you could put a memory card.
I received the Camera Coat in the Glimmer of Paris/Black pattern. The Camera Coat I got is waterproof, with the outside being made of 100% Designer Cotton Laminate. The inside is padded and made of 100% Cotton. There are five sizes of Camera Coats – Standard, Large Standard, Small PRO, PRO and SUPER PRO. There’s a handy sizing chart to help you determine which size will suit your needs. Camera Coat pricing starts at $20 depending on size, style and pattern, with the one I received retailing for $50.
The Camera Coat is a great camera accessory for those that want to keep their camera ready to use but not completely exposed to surrounding people and the elements.

Great as long as there is time ti get it on before the rain. That’s why I carry a small one along with an SLR.
