I have a small family. I am the oldest of four children, and the only girl. Two of my brothers are almost 20 years younger than me, and were just being born as I was moving out of my parents house. I don’t have blood cousins. For me, family gatherings are very small. I have a couple of friends who have big families. One of them doesn’t have any siblings, but has cousins that have always been like siblings to her. The other has five children and a sixth on the way. Having only two boys just under four years apart, I sometimes have a hard time fathoming having a number of young children close in age. I literally cannot even imagine what it would be like to have septuplets.

The last time I heard about someone having septuplets was a number of years ago. It was the McGhee family, and it as back in the year 2010. The siblings were the first set of sextuplets known to be born in Columbus, Ohio. The family took a fun photo that went viral and before they knew it the whole country knew who this family was because of their unique and fun photo (taken by Janine and Brian Killian/Peters and shown above). Well, the family is back on everyone’s radar now, with a fun new family photo and their own reality show on UPtv!

First, who is UPtv?
UP is in nearly 70 million homes and can be found on most cable systems in the U.S., as well as AT&T U-Verse channel 369 (SD)/1369 (HD), DIRECTV channel 338, DISH channel 188 and Verizon FiOS channel 238 (SD)/738 (HD). UP also offers an exclusive subscription video on demand (SVOD) service called UP Faith & Family, that super serves the millions of Americans who seek entertainment that affirms their faith and family values.
“UP is all about family and the relationships that define them. From your crazy uncle to your neighbor that you love like a sister, they get the unique stories; the strengths and the silliness, the tears and triumphs, the laughter and the hard-won lessons of family. They celebrate what makes each story unique, and the shared experiences that bring us all together.” (from the UPtv website)
Now, back to the McGhees. Growing Up McGhee is a new reality show on the UP Network . The series premiered earlier this month. The reality show shares a look at the daily lives of the children and their parents, Rozonno and Mia McGhee. Viewers will see that balancing the care of six children of the same age while running a business is certainly a challenge. The septuplets that were introduced to the nation back in 2010 are no longer tiny infants in diapers now. The children are now starting kindergarten. I am sure that parents Mia and Ro were busy enough with the kids in diapers, but now I bet it’s really hectic with the kids in different classes, moving under their own power with their own personalities and opinions.
I’m looking forward to watching this show for the first time tonight. A number of things crossed my mind when reading about this new show. I’m wondering what would happen if all of the kids ganged up on their parents? I’m wondering how the kids feel about being a septuplet. I’m wondering how the children feel about sharing. I’ll be tweeting during the show, so if you’re watching be sure to say hi.
Here’s a trailer from the show.
Tune in to watch the Growing Up McGhee on Wednesday nights at 9 pm ET on UPtv.

Sounds like a great show. I will be checking it out for sure.
This sounds like a great show. I always love watching shows that are heavy on family and not so much on blood, gore, or sex.
Awww the little babies aren’t babies anymore. I remember their story.
This looks like a fun show to watch with my kiddo! Hopefully we will be able to catch this show!
I love watching these shows! how in the world do they manage? Beautiful family!
I’ve been hearing a lot about this show lately. Sounds like it would be one that I’d enjoy. I couldn’t imagine having that many kids the same age!
Time sure does fly! Look how much they’ve grown. Sounds like a fun show too!
This was such a great show! I love that my whole family can watch it and laugh together 🙂
Those littles certainly are cute! I haven’t seen the show yet, but I love getting a peek into other families and how they make it all work.
Sounds like a really fun show, I know many people will like it!
MMy four came one at a time– the closest two I called irish twins especially were a handful. I cannot imagine a pair of parents doing it all.
I can certainly see myself watching this show. I am amazed at how they manage that many babies!
This is a fantastic show. I can not imagine having so many kids all the same age.
This is such a cute family and it’s fun to watch all the kids doing their different things. What a busy life!
I really love shows about big families. I always wanted one myself when I was a kid and as an adult it fascinates me to see how they all work together!
Many of the shows with families with multiples are not very relatable. I love how sweet and fun the McGhee family is.
These are such adorable photos! As a mom of triplets, I must say it is really 3 times the work, fun AND LOVE. And that JOY and family togetherness that is unique to higher order multiple family really comes through in these family portraits. Definitely want to see this show.
