Most kids only face the heat of the summer when they’re outside playing. But, for the eight contestants of Rachael Ray’s Kids Cook-Off, they’ll be facing the heat in and out of the kitchen. The kitchen will be hotter than ever while these kids go head to head in tough competition. And there’s little doubt in my mind that the competition will be tough.
This season’s Rachael Ray’s Kids Cook-Off competitors include: Chandler (Carnesville, Georgia; age 12), Chris (Ann Arbor, Michigan; age 13), Juliana (Marietta, Georgia; age 11), Nicholas (Edward, Colorado; age 10), Olivia (Yonkers, New York; age 11), Sabrina (Indianapolis, Indiana; age 11), Scarlett (Hollywood, California; age 11), and Zach (Olathe, Kansas; age 12).
The eight contestants on this show are competing for more than bragging rights. These junior chefs will also be competing for a $20,000 culinary scholarship and their own web series on FoodNetwork.com. The kids won’t be completely on their own, as they will each be mentored by the show’s host, television personality and well-known cookbook author Rachael Ray.
Each week the contestant will have to face certain challenges. The episodes are:
- “Fusion Impossible” (Premiere)
- “Fast Food Feud”
- “Hasta La Pasta”
- “Family-Style Showdown”
- “Monster Meals”
- “Grand Finale Cook-Off”

A detailed description of each of the six scheduled episodes can be found in the embedded presentation below. The challenges assigned will range in difficulty and theme. One of the themed challenges is to create a dessert in disguise inspired by the upcoming new movie Hotel Transylvania 2. Contestants will also be judged by the way they handle themselves in on-camera challenges.
Rachael will have help mentoring the contestants and judging the competition each week from a guest judge. Guest judges include Sunny Anderson, Scott Conant, Amanda Freitag, Alex Guarnaschelli, Robert Irvine, Jeff Mauro, Daymon Patterson, Marcus Samuelsson and Fabio Viviani.

This looks likes so much fun. My nephew loves to cook AND he loves to watch cooking shows.
This is awesome and while the kids are having fun, that is one heck of a scholarship award for the winner! It will certainly help these talented junior chefs in opening a few doors in the future too. Very exciting. Can’t wait to watch!
I think this is going to be a great show. I always love watching shows where kids show off their talents.
I have not heard of this show! I love Rachael Ray and her show, I need to remember to try to watch this and set the DVR!
I’ve seen this show or one like it. It’s such a great show for kids to be in and for kids to watch and be inspired. Here’s for kids in the kitchen!!
