Do you struggle to get up and get going in the morning? Do you hit “snooze” on your alarm clock more than a few times, or sleep through your alarm? If you do, you’ll be interested in the Philips Wake Up Light!
I took the Philips Wake Up Light Challenge. As a part of this challenge, I tried the light for a week to see if I felt more alive and productive in the morning. I usually wake up feeling grumpy and groggy and I have NO motivation to get ready for the day! I read through the directions several times before I figured out how to set up the light. I am not good at pamphlets of directions! Anyway, I finally caught on and set up the clock time, alarm time and nature sounds. You can choose different sounds or the radio to kick in at the end of the light cycle, which adds a sound as a back up if you’re worried you won’t wake up. You can set a second wake up time, too. I choose bird song as my nature sound. There are 5 sounds to choose from: Bird Song, Birds in the forest, Zen Garden, Gentle piano and Seaside Sounds.
The light begins to glow a deep reddish-orange just like a natural sunrise about 30 minutes before your wake up time. It gradually becomes brighter until it is as bright as bright sunlight. That’s when my beautiful bird song kicks in. You can adjust everything, the length of the cycle, the level of brightness, the volume of the sounds, or even choose no sounds at all! There is a fall asleep option where you can listen to music with sunset simulation. Sunset simulation is a light therapy used before you go to sleep. Sunset simulation prepares your body to fall asleep by gradually decreasing light and sound to your set duration.

I am a very light sleeper. I woke up at the first reddish glow every morning, but I have to say, I wasn’t sleepy, angry, or groggy! I let the cycle continue and hopped out of bed when the light became brighter. I left the light on to complete the cycle and as I dressed in bright sunlight, I hummed along with the bird song!
Now, my teenage daughter really wants to take the challenge, too! She hits snooze many times and sometimes falls asleep after she turns her alarm off, which makes her rush and sometimes miss the school bus. This week I will be letting her try it, but I am really afraid it will work for her and I will lose my nice wake up system!
This is the only wake up light that is clinically proven to work! I don’t know about you, but scientific facts work for me! 92% of users agreed it was easier to get out of bed with Philips Wake Up Light.
Philips Wake Up Light has helped me to “Rise and Thrive!” Why don’t you take the challenge?
Philips Wake Up Light retails for $169.99 for the model I tried. There are other models available. You can purchase this light on Philips website.

Fall asleep option is what I need.
I have wanted to try one of these out! It seems like a great alternative to waking up abruptly. Even something like this would be great for my kids, have them get up on school mornings on their own.
I had no idea they created these but this is awesome! I love our Philips Hue lights and would love them even more if they helped me become a suitable human being in the morning! lol!
I wonder if this is compatible with their Hue system. Would love to integrate it into ours!
Wake up light sounds like a great idea. I have to hit snooze one too many times!
