Penelope Not everyone automatically likes themselves. As a teenager I did not like myself, because I was very different from other kids. I graduated high school at fifteen. So I was different from my classmates because I was much younger. I was different from kids my own age because I was not in the same grade as them. I had to learn to like myself. I didn’t learn this lesson until I was 18 years old, at the time I met my husband. Finally as a young adult I realized I liked myself and became a much happier person. Now as a parent I have tried to teach my oldest son the same lesson.
I saw a trailer for a movie today about a girl that’s very different. How different? I won’t tell you because I’d rather you see for yourself, but let’s just say VERY different. the movie is called “Penelope” and it’s based on the book by the same name authored by Marilyn Kate. Due out on February 29, 2008, the movie stars Christina Ricci, Catherine O’Hara, James McAvoy and Reese Witherspoon.
Penelope is a movie about the journey a young woman under a family curse and her journey to find true love. Penelope comes from a wealthy family and her suitors all want her money but are not willing to accept her for who she is. When she is betrayed, she ventures out along into the world and makes her first real friend. Before finding true love she must learn the same lesson that I did, that she has to like herself the way she is.
Here’s the trailer for the movie that made me decide I have to go see this. If you think the movie trailer looks good too, go learn more about it on the Penelope Official Website or check out the Penelope MySpace. See you at the movies!
