Post on the OZ Premiere at the El Capitan Theatre in LA
Last Wednesday night was a night I will likely never forget. it’s the night that I attended the premiere of the Disney movie OZ The Great And Powerful. Now I’m not talking about going to the opening night of a movie at your local theater. I’m talking about going to worldwide red carpet premiere of a movie at the famous El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles, California. For an occasion like this a girl’s gotta ditch the jeans (or sweats, or even pajamas) and get dressed up. After all, no girl in her right mind would want to rub shoulders with the cast of a movie looking like a hot mess. I wore a dress made by Chaps, courtesy of Mom and Dad.

The rest of the group dressed up as well. Since we were staying at the Langham Huntington Hotel, where the Batchelor got married, it only seemed appropriate that we took our own batchelor photo. Voila, 25 female bloggers with their favorite Disney batchelor.

From there we traveled into LA for the premiere. There was no mistaking where we were going, you could see the OZ balloon from blocks away.

While making our way through the streets we stopped for another group photo. You may recognize these stairs. No? Well, they’re the stairs at the Dolby Theater, where you may have seen photos from Academy Awards ceremonies.

Within minutes after we were at the famous El Capitan Theatre.

Along the street in front of the El Capitan was the red carpet. Or, in this case, a yellow brick road carpet. We watched the stars make the walk down the carpet including Michelle Williams, Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz, Zach Braff and Joey King. James Franco was there but he’d arrived in the OZ balloon already. The cast looked great.

The carpet is a chaotic and noisy place. I have a little video from it mixed in with my pictures, I may try and put together a post in the next few days showing you what I mean.
What was very fun was that not only did we see the stars walk the carpet, most of the members of our group have appeared in photos taken of the stars that are on sites like E, Just Jared and many more. My 17 year old son likes Mila Kunis. Well, likes is not quite the right word. I was trying really hard to get photos of her for him, and wound up in lots of her photos looking rather like a stalker. Here’s the one photo I saw from Just Jared where I wasn’t clicking away.

From there we went into the theater to watch the movie. We had great seats in the balcony.

I am not going to share any spoilers with you right now, you’ll have to wait for my review. What I can tell you right now is this. OZ The Great And Powerful was absolutely amazing, even better then I expected and I expected it to be great. I can’t wait for it to come out so I can see it again.
Here’s the synopsis.
When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot—fame and fortune are his for the taking—that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity—and even a bit of wizardry—Oscar transforms himself not only into the great wizard but into a better man as well.
And the trailer.

After the movie we went to a club called Lure for the after party. We saw lots of people there, up close and personal. I was on line for a snack and turned to my right and found myself standing next to James Franco. A while later I was standing with my friend Zippy to the side of the room eating and found myself a foot away from Ashton Kutcher. There was a fun photo booth there where we took some pictures. After a couple of ours we headed back to the hotel, where I conked out.
