Oral-B Pro-Health 3000 Toothbrush
I changed primary care dentists over the summer. After my checkup the dentist told me he wanted me to go to see a periodontist. Now my previous primary care dentist had always recommended a root planing and scaling twice a year, for gingivitis. That’s what I had expected to happen this time. But it isn’t what happened. The new primary care dentist told me he was very concerned about my gum disease and that he wanted an expert opinion. So off I went. The periodontist did an exam and said that yes I did need a root planing and scaling, as well as some gum surgery. Two sessions and the root planing and scaling was done. In 2015 we will do the gum surgery.
This ongoing periodontal treatment has not been a good time. I hate all of the needles in my mouth just for the root planing and scaling. While I understand why the periodontist feels it’s necessary, I am not looking forward to the surgery next year at all. The periodontist has stressed one thing over and over since we met. The largest factor in your mouth’s health is related to the care you give and the care you receive. And the truth is, I need to take better care of my teeth if I want to keep them.
The periodontist recommended I get a new toothbrush. He told me I didn’t need the firm brush that I thought I needed. I have no idea why I thought I needed firm bristles but I did. He told me brushing too hard is a bad thing. He also told me I need to floss a lot more, and to find a way to get into the crevices. Starting off fresh with a new Oral-B Pro-Health 3000 Toothbrush seemed to make sense to me.

The Oral-B Pro-Health 3000 is a rechargeable electric toothbrush. The toothbrush has 3 different modes:

  • Daily clean – this mode uses a pressure sensor to tell when you are brushing too hard
  • Gum care – this mode controls pressure and massages gums
  • Sensitive – this mode provides the gentlest brushing of sensitive areas

There are lots of great features in this toothbrush that I like. The periodontist told me I needed to brush longer, and to be sure to give attention to all areas. The Pro Health 3000 has  a built-in timer that tells the user when to move from one area of the mouth to another. It also lets the user know when they have brushed for two minutes. The bristles change color when it’s time to replace your toothbrush head, something I have historically waited far too long to do.The Pro-Health 3000 helps prevent and reverse gingivitis by removing up to 100% more plaque than a manual toothbrush and by getting in between teeth and along the gums as no manual brush can. And last but not least, it’s easy for the whole family to use. My last electronic toothbrush didn’t easily accommodate different members of the family. The Oral-B Pro-Health 3000 Toothbrush comes with a base that holds up to four brush heads.

  1. I love my Oral B rechargeable tooth brush. It makes my teeth feel so clean. I bought my kids one for Christmas.

  2. I would love one of these! I think it gives a better overall clean than a regular toothbrush. I will be looking out for a sale on these.

  3. I used a few battery operated brushes and always felt disappointed. I hated that not only did I have to replace the batteries I had to replace the heads too. Which was fine, but those things run out of battery juice really quickly. I tried a couple electric brushes and after a while they would stop making them and then I wouldn’t have replacement heads to buy. I felt like I was wasting money. So, manual brushing it is for me.
