The oddest thing happened. Our house is almost 40 years old. Some of the things in it are original from when it was built. In our front yard we have a post light. It shares a switch inside our front door with the light on the front porch. The post light stopped working about 5 years ago, but the porch light worked fine. Because the post light is in the middle of our front yard, we knew it would be difficult and a little expensive to get an electrician to come out and trace the line to find and fix the problem, so we let it be. Well someone (hubby or one of the boys, not sure) hit the switch to turn on the porch light this past weekend and the front yard post light came on. We stood there shocked, because you could actually see the front walk. It’s been 4 days now and it’s still working. But now that it works I’m looking at it more and thinking we ought to replace it. That way, if it was the fixture it wouldn’t happen again. And a new one would look much better than the nasty old chipped one out there now. I thought a brass one would be nice, to match the porch light. But then I realized the brass porch light looks old and sort of tarnished. Which made me think we ought to replace both. So today I started looking at home lighting fixtures. I’m thinking copper would be nice. I found a nice copper and black outdoor post mount light and the site even has an outdoor wall mount light that matches. Wait until I tell my hubby I’m thinking of ways to spend money we don’t have again.
