Did you see the Coca-Cola 600 last weekend? We did, we had an at-home viewing party. Actually, we’ve had viewing parties for the last two weekends. Who am I kidding? We pretty much always have a viewing party when there’s a race. I acquired my love for racing from my Dad. Aside from my youngest son and husband, my two favorite people to watch a race with are my Dad and my middle brother. We’re funny when we watch together. We get together, everybody in their favorite driver’s colors. Then we watch the race, while eating tailgate style with snacks and Coke, sometimes burgers and such like we did this year for the Coca-Cola 600.
In some ways we’re funnier when we watch separately. My brother that I love to watch racing with lives in Ohio at the time being, so we rely on Facetime, texting, phone calls and Facebook when a race is on. He’s about the biggest #14 Tony Stewart fan around. Me, I LOVE #1 Jamie McMurray. My husband is more of a racing fan in general, he likes a couple of drivers including #11 Denny Hamlin, #16 Greg Biffle and #31 Jeff Burton. And I know he thinks Danice Patrick is cute so when she drives the Coke Zero car I’m sure he’ll be cheering for her too. My Dad was a Bill Elliott fan for forever, after which he became a Kasey Kahne fan. Which means my Dad was a happy fellow when Kasey won the Coca-Cola 600.
I bet that my Dad was almost as happy about the win as Kasey was! And Kasey was happy!
It was his third time winning the Coca-Cola 600, his first win since he joined Hendrick Racing, and his 300th series start. He absolutely deserved to win, his car was great.
Other Coca-Cola drivers performed very well too. Two of them finished in the top ten – Denny Hamlin finished in 2nd place and Greg Biffle finished in 4th place. Here’s how the rest of the Coca-Cola Racing team fared:

#20 Joey Logano finished 23rd.
#14 Tony Stewart finished 25th.

If you go to any races, I’ll be at the Watkins Glen race and the fall Dover race. We go to those every year. I love racing. My goal is to actually get to go to a Cup race at every track at least once. So fat I’ve been to Loudon NH, Pocono PA, Watkins Glen NY, Dover DE, and Daytona FL. The track I most want to go to is Bristol TN. My other dream is to get to visit a hot pit, especially if it’s that of my favorite driver.
