My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 was a great movie to watch with my family on our traditional family night. We get pizza and watch a DVD together every Saturday night. It’s a fun tradition and when the adult kids come home, they really look forward to this night together!
It’s been a long time since we watched the first Big Fat Greek Wedding movie and I was thrilled to see the entire cast back for the sequel! Some of them haven’t changed much at all and others are showing their age a bit more.
I’m usually disappointed with sequels and I was bracing myself to be let down with this one. I mean, how could it be any good this many years later? We had our 16 and 23 year old daughters with us the night we watched this, so I’ll give you their opinions also.
The storyline is that Toula and Ian have a teenage daughter who doesn’t appreciate the Greek family traditions and is butting heads with them about everything. Toula looks tired and stressed and it seems like her marriage is put last on their list of priorities. The daughter is embarrassed by her crazy Greek family, and the crazy Greek family is pretty much just as ridiculous as they were 16 years ago! Of course, there is a crisis and they need to have another Big Fat Greek Wedding, bigger and more Greek than Toula and Ian’s! It is a really funny twist to who the problem is with and the family kept us laughing throughout the entire movie!
My family and I weren’t expecting to really like this movie as much as we did, just because it was a sequel and so many years had passed. We all agreed that while we loved the first movie the best, this one was funny, entertaining, and a good family movie. It is rated PG-13 for some suggestive moments.
If you want a fun movie that will keep you laughing, this is a great choice!
