Did you ever remember something out of the blue, something you haven’t thought of in years? I find myself remembering lots of little things like this lately. Sometimes I wonder if anyone else thinks things like this. With that in mind I’m going to share one of these memories every Monday. I thought this would be a fun way for you (the reader) and I to get to know each other better. Feel free to join in on your blog if you like. Here’s today’s memory.
Slouch Socks
Slouch Socks.
Back in the 80s slouch socks were really popular here. Everybody wore them. They were more of a fashion statement than a foot covering. They were worn with both shoes and sneakers, or barefoot if you danced that way. Wigwam made the best slouch socks, they were so soft and thick and you couldn’t find anything warmer. They came in dozens of colors, some people had every color so they matched their whole wardrobe. You could wear one pair or even two for a layered look. I never see slouch socks in the stores anymore, I’d buy a couple of pairs if I did.
Are you old enough to remember slouch socks? Did you love them too?

  1. I despised those socks as a kid! I think I subconsciously rebel against them now by buying the lowest socks I can find with no ankles! Haha.
Monday Memory is a cute idea, I will probably join in.

    1. My son loves those low ankle socks, just like his Uncle Ed. Right now I’m into these fuzzy, super warm socks. They’re almost as warm as wigwams were.

  2. Oh those crazy ’80’s!! I totally remember wearing slouch socks, especially wearing two for a layered look. I used to wear them over my jeans that I had fold-rolled at the bottom with an oversize sweatshirt or blouse.

  3. I really had faith for a while that slouch socks would make a huge comeback one day. My biggest secret in life is the fact that I am really attracted to them (on the right woman of course) My mother in law always has them on but there is that whole part about being my wifes mom that kinda makes feel guilty when I notice them for longer then a glance. Im still hoping for the day someone thinks they are cool again! My only request this time is to limit them to only one pair being cool.
