Monday Memory – Floor Plans

Did you ever remember something out of the blue, something you haven’t thought of in years? I find myself remembering lots of little things like this lately. Sometimes I wonder if anyone else thinks things like this. With that in mind I’m going to share one of these memories every Monday. I thought this would be a fun way for you (the reader) and I to get to know each other better. Feel free to join in on your blog if you like – leave me a link if you do so I can visit. Here’s today’s memory.

From about the time I was ten I used to dream of the kind of house I’d live in. I used to sit and draw floor plans of my dream home in my spare time or at times when I was bored. They were always different, although frequently one feature would appear. I always wanted a big house. My floorplans almost always had at least four or five bedrooms, a study or den, an office, a living room, a laundry room, at least two bathrooms, a play room, a pantry, a dining room and a kitchen. There were lots of closets and sometimes a room (giant closet) just for storage, everything from accessories to bead storage to extra holiday gifts. Sometimes there was an exercise room, sometimes an entertainment room. My dream house was always a multi-level house. Once in a while, but not usually, I’d also draw the grounds. Yes that’s the grounds, not the yard – implying lots of property. When I did there was always a swimming pool and basketball court.
What type of home did you imagine yourself living in as an adult? Do you live in that type of home? Did you draw floor plans of your dream home or am I the only one?
FYI. I do not have a big house. I live in a small ranch home. My house looks nothing like anything I drew and is nothing like I dreamed it would be. It’s not big enough and uit needs work. But I love it anyway.
