PHILADELPHIA ZOO ANNOUNCES WILDLIFE WARRIORS SUMMER CAMP 2014
Registration is now open for Zoo’s summer camp program
PHILADELPHIA (January 23, 2014) – Philadelphia Zoo today announced that registration for the popular Wildlife Warriors Summer Camp 2014 is open. Campers from ages 4-13 can sign up for one-week-long sessions, which introduce them to the spectacular wonders of the natural world through up-close animal encounters and interactive activities. Each session runs from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. from Monday through Friday, including before and after camp options, in June, July and August.
Wildlife Warriors choose their mission and set off on a big adventure to save big cats like jaguars, tigers and lions through games, hands-on activities and science investigations. All programs are tailored to specific age groups and offer an opportunity to have fun while learning to solve real wildlife issues.
Campers start each day working side by side with keepers to help take care of the Zoo’s collection of 1,300 animals, many rare and endangered, from around the world. Throughout the week, they will become immersed in Zoo culture, learn about animal care at the Zoo and take action for threatened species. Additionally, campers will have the opportunity to have one-of-a-kid animal experiences such as feeding a giraffe, meeting hippos, rhinos, okapi and getting a closer look at rat or goat training demonstrations.
“Wildlife Warriors learn that they can affect positive change for wildlife, while having an unforgettable camp experience among the Zoo’s majestic animals,” says Kimberly Lengel, Vice President of Education and Conservation, Philadelphia Zoo. “We truly believe in the importance of investing in future generations, and inspiring them to become the next generation of planet protectors.”
Cost per week is $315 for Zoo members and $340 for nonmembers. Campers may register for more than one session at a discounted rate. Philadelphia Zoo also offers a $25 discount for registering siblings. Full payment for all camp sessions must be received by June 1, 2014.
