Coming into their sixth season, Mike and Molly has a great cast of actors. So you will want to be sure to get your hands on the complete series of season 5. The actors in this comedy series include: Molly Flynn (Melissa McCarthy), Mike Biggs (Billy Gardell), Victoria Flynn (Katy Mixon), Carl McMillan (Reno Wilson), Samuel (Nyambi Nyambi), Joyce Flynn (Swoosie Kurtz), Carl’s Grandma (Cleo King), Peggy (Rondi Reed), and Vince (Louis Mustillo).
Who knew when season one of Mike & Molly first aired in 2010 that in 2015 they would still be bringing the funny. When this series came out it started on the premise of a romance of teacher Molly Flynn and Chicago police officer Mike Biggs, who fall in love when they meet at an Overeaters Anonymous meeting.
When the series first started, the reason I started watching it was because a critic had an issue with “2 heavy people kissing on TV”. So due to that comment in the news I started watching it and have ever since because it was so much more than that. Each character has their own personality that they bring to the show.
Molly was a school teacher until she decided that she would rather write than teach. This brings a new stress to her life, but she is working through it with the support of Mike, her husband.
Mike is a police officer who is married to Molly and they live in her Mom and step-father’s house with her sister. It is close quarters for sure but helps elevate the funny in the show’s plot.
Next we have Mike’s Mom who acts like she doesn’t like Molly but I think there is a part of her that does. In the beginning, she didn’t like that Molly was “taking Mike away from her but as time has continued on, she is starting to rub off on me. Also her dog “Jim” cracks me up; especially how she interacts with him.
The rest of the characters are enjoyable and brings their own personality and this shows how they mesh so well together.

Billy Gardell and Melissa McCarthy return in season five of this hilarious comedy about a working-class Chicago couple who’d almost given up on love…but then found each other. Officer Mike Biggs is a good-hearted cop who was instantly smitten by Molly Flynn, an elementary school teacher. After realizing they were meant for one another, they got married. Molly now has embarked on a career change as she has her sights set on being a writer. While attending the prestigious Iowa Writing Workshop, Molly sells her romance novel, but the excitement is short-lived as she now faces the pressures of meeting deadlines, taking notes from her opinionated publisher and dealing with her own insecurities as a writer. Aside from living under the same roof as his in-laws, Mike has to deal with his partner dating Molly’s sister, and supporting his wife while riding the roller coaster of being married to a published author.
Mike & Molly is not rated, but I fee in my opinion that is it geared from an older teen to an adult audience due to its innuendos and off-color comedy at times. The season contains 3 discs and you can purchase it on Amazon. Released on August 18, 2015 you can purchase your copy now.
After so many seasons it is a credit to the show that it is running strong.
This is such a cute show! I love how they keep finding new story lines for it every year. I didn’t realize that it’s on season five already!
This is one of my favorite comedies! I can’t wait for the new season to begin!
Whoever let this show drop missed the boat. It was perfectly cast and written.
