One of my favorite things to do is to watch movies with my kids. Over their Christmas break, I bet we watched 20 movies! We pop some popcorn, snuggle under blankets, and just enjoy spending time together watching a good movie. One such movie we watched was Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life. Here is what the movie is about:
“Rafe has an epic imagination, and a slight problem with authority. Both collide when he transfers to a rule-crazy middle school. Drowning in dos and donts, Rafe and his best friend Leo hatch a plan to expose the principal by breaking every rule in the school s Code of Conduct. As the principal strikes back, Rafe s world, at home and at school, explodes into hilarious chaos in this laugh-filled family comedy based on James Patterson s bestselling book series.”
Johnny has been reading books by James Patterson so he was especially excited to watch this when it showed up at our door. He knew more about this series than his sisters and I, but we all were happy to jump in and see what it was about.
The story was great. You follow Rafe through this journey of breaking every rule at school. It was funny and imaginative and the kids really seemed to enjoy it. There were plenty of laughs and, I have to admit, some tears too. I was a bit taken back by the surprise twist in the movie (which I won’t spoil for you!). I think that even most adults would enjoy this flick because of the comedy and drama combined in it.
This is rated PG and I have to warn that little kids may become scared by all the different characters that come out of the story. Jemma wasn’t bothered by it but I know that there are some little ones that may be, so be cautious with little ones with this movie. I think anyone of middle school age would be the best audience for Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life.
