Message In A Bottle Valentine's Day Craft

People want to make connections with other people, and most of us hope and dream that we will find a partner that returns our feelings that we can grow old with. It’s not uncommon for people to write love letters while they’re dating. I wrote my fair share of them back in the day. Sending a love letters is a simple gesture that shows the person you have feelings for that you care. When I was young there were no computers to send email and no cell phones to send texts. All we had was good old paper. Even though the technology exists today to send a message more quickly, good old paper has the power to tug heartstrings like nothing else.

One of the popular romantic films is Message in a Bottle that stars Kevin Costner. This Message In A Bottle Valentine’s Day Craft was inspired by that movie. In this craft you will make a rustic, miniature version of the classic message in a bottle that is seen in the movie.

Let’s get started!

Instructions

Step 1:  Cut a small piece of rectangular paper extracted from the paper bag.  The width of this should fit into the small vial when rolled horizontally.

Step 2:  Create a rustic effect on the rectangular paper.  Do this by using a lighter.  Burn the sides of the paper and partially burn the middle part of it as well.  Be careful in performing this because you might burn the whole paper in the process.  Maintain proper distance between the lighter and the paper to achieve the best results.

Step 3:  Glue the two matchsticks together, with the head orienting on the opposite side of each.  Hot glue the glued sticks on the top and the bottom end of the rustic paper.  This should resemble the classic paper scroll.

Step 4: Carefully roll the sides with the stick towards the center.
