REVIEW AND GIVEAWAY – Masik Collegiate Fragrances

I like to smell nice. Perfume is one way to help a person smell nice. I like to try new fragrances. My favorite scents are almost always fruity, and almost never totally floral. When presented the opportunity to choose some Masik Collegiate Fragrances, I had to do some reading to decide which ones I wanted to try. I had to read because in most cases I had never been to the school the fragrance was named for, and didn’t know much about the area. Why does that matter? That’s easy.
Masik Collegiate Fragrances are inspired by the areas a school is in. Katie Masik, the founder, wanted to create fragrances that provoked memories. College is something that people remember. The Collegiate Fragrances are inspired by things in and around the campuses they are named for, such as flowers, trees, locations, and even school colors. Masik consults with the schools to get their input and feedback on the formulas as she is developing them. There are currently 20 schools involved:

I chose women’s fragrances – University of Oklahoma and Syracuse University.
University of Oklahoma Women’s Perfume
A signature scent exclusively created to capture the essence of the University of Oklahoma. The Rich Tradition of Crimson and Cream, The Immense Pride of the Sooners and the Beauty of Norman. Exhilarating, Cool and Magnetic.
Inspired by that magical Sooners spirit, the University of Oklahoma scent for women opens with fresh sparkling notes of lychee, freesia and valencia oranges. Feminine and lively red floral notes of rose, lush peony and soft magnolia define the fragrance heart while soft balsam, exotic vanilla and a trace of patchouli round out the dry down.

Syracuse University® Women’s Perfume

A signature scent exclusively created to capture the essence of Syracuse University. The Passion for “Orange.” The Energy of the Carrier Dome to the Striking elegance of the Crouse. Energetic, Passionate and Determined.
The passion for Orange is like no other and is the inspiration for our freshly feminine scent. It opens with a sparkling medley of truly notes – Mandarin, White Peach and Juicy Passionfruit. A lush floral blend of Muguet, Freesia and Orange Magnolia define the heart of the fragrance while Creamy Vanilla, Amber and Musks provide a sensual dry down. A light and fresh fragrance with a beautiful touch of Orange for the Syracuse women.

• Top Notes: Zesty Mandarin, Fresh White Peach, Juicy Passionfruit
• Middle Notes: White Muguet, Freesia, Dewy Cyclamen, Orange Magnolia

University of Oklahoma was light and floral without being too flowery. It was comfortable, sort of like a walk in the woods meets candle burning meets flowers meets fruit. Basically it was really well-balanced. The Syracuse was different, it reminded me of being in a winter park. This one was a bit more fruity then floral to me. I really liked both scents because they are light and subtle. The scents don’t wear away quickly like some, I found them to still be lingering after several hours.
