Did you know that I used to swim competitively? I did, for many years. At one point I was swimming on two teams, for two to four hours per day, five or six days a week. I stopped swimming when I moved out of my Moms at the age of eighteen. Coincidentally, that was right around the same time that I started gaining weight. Hmmmm. Anyway.
One of the things I enjoyed about swimming besides the swimming was the view. Competitive swimmers are usually pretty fit. See, swimming uses every muscle in the body. It leaves you with a great shape and physique, you can look completely toned and muscular without looking all lumpy and bumpy like a wrestler. Bathing suits, well they can be very flattering on the right body. Let me just say that male swimmers can be lots of fun to look at. Swimming was one of the few aspects of my young life that I enjoyed and I’m not ashamed to say that part of that was because oogling the boys could be lots of fun.
Something else that was fun was the travel that came with competitive swimming. Not only did I swim in pools all over the state of New Jersey, but I also swam in other places including the Olympic pool in Quebec. now that was cool. We were in a program where we spent time with a team there and participated in a competition. I don’t get many visits from people from other countries these days. Actually, I should say any instead of many, until this weekend.
This weekend I received a visit from the Fairy Hobmother. For those of you unfamiliar, the Fairy Hobmother is from the UK. I envision him living in a little castle near Appliances Online. He visits bloggers spreading happiness and fairy dust. And he’s the best kind of guest, he brings gifts! Now I know some people think of the Fairy hobmother as a male fairy in green shirt and tights. Like this.
While I like a man in tights as much as the next girl, I don’t envision him quite that way. I think of him more like a swimmer – fast, fit, and well, half clothed. Something more like Ryan Lochte.
Would you like a visit from the Fairy Hobmother? You can find the Fairy Hobmother on Twitter, but the best way to convince him to visit you is by leaving a comment right here on this post telling me what type of outfit you think the Fairy Hobmother wears. I can’t wait to hear your answers.

Hmm I’m thinking he’s a well dressed man, possibly suit and tie. 🙂
Ooooh… I don’t know what is more interesting to fantasize about – male swimmers or the Fairy Hobmother? LOL!
That is awesome that the Fairy Hobmother paid you a visit. You never know where he might show up next.
@ Kimberly – That is a tough call!
I have 2 visions. In jacket and hat as Ed Winn in the Jerry Lewis movie Cinderfella from 1960 or in tights, satin shirt and wings as Dwayne Johnson in The Tooth Fairy.
I picture him more like Sean Connery as James Bond, in a very expensive and well cut tux.
@ Maryann – I bet he’d look handsome in a tux but I wonder how difficult it would be to fly in one.
I think Fairy Hobmother wears a black Lycra Running suit with green wings 😉
@ Ivette – I was thinking lycra shorts similar to boxer briefs, and yes definitely green wings.
I think he wears a tuxedo – and maybe a nice cape 🙂
@ Katherine – Now that’s interesting. Would he open his cape like Batman to show his fairy wings? 🙂
Well, I don’t know about the wings, but I rather like the woodsy elfin suit. (How can a HobMOTHER be male? My brain hurts thinking about that! lol)
@ Rachel – Not sure how the name came to be. But he’s got to have wings, fairies need wings to get around.
Peter Pan didn’t need wings to fly. 😉 (I know, Peter Pan’s not a fairy. But still…)
a tutu of course!
@ Courtney – Nooooo! Tutus are for girl fairies and ballerinas!
I think the Fairy Hobmother is a “Sharp dressed man” Suit and tie to the tee 😉
Oh great, now I’ll have the ZZ Top song in my head all morning! 🙂
I loved your swimming years.
A visit from the Fairy Hobmother…how fun! I’m thinking he’s probably dressed pretty fine – maybe a nice black suit and hat. Oh, and I think he probably wears some cool looking glasses;o)
@ Kari – Some cool sunglasses are a definite possibility!
Has the Fairy Hobmother ever been to Middlearth? I think he possesses a magic similar to that of the elves. I bet the kids would love a visit!
@ Headant – I know what you’re saying but I think he’s only been to real places, not fictional.
I think he’s a casual dressy type of guy.
@ Cinny – jeans casual or sweats casual?
well, casual dressy would mean decently dressed (jeans, dress shirt)…LOL, casual comfy would mean sweats to me That’s my bum mode. 😉
Sweats are comfy, and so are fleece pajama bottoms too! But I don’t picture him in those, LOL.
Half-dressed…I like the way you think 😉
Congratulations!
@ Melanie S – Half dressed is 50% more clothes then when I started out thinking about it. 🙂
You just never know 🙂
Great post! The Fairy Hobmother would be a casual kind of guy. Jeans and a T I think! 😉
Jeans? Tight, relaxed, skinny jeans, flares?
I think the Fairy Hobmother wears Chaps and a cowboy hat…
I’ll take your chaps and hat and raise you one commando! teehee.
I think he wears collared shirts with khaki trousers.
@ Elisebet – Hmm. Collared shirts like polo type shirts or like button down dress shirts?
Polos!
Awesome! How does it feel to won the Blog Fairy Lottery? Still waiting for a visit…..
My almost-4-year-old is very much in the fairy stage right now and I’m loving it. We’ll be putting together a fairy garden for her this spring/summer. We’d love for Fairy Hobmother to come for a visit!
Hmmm, I picture him dressed like Willy Wonka – a suit, but sort of a cheesy one. 😉
Hahaha! I love Willy Wonka! That’s one of my favorite movies ever (the original one).
Congrats on your visit from the fairy hobmother! Jealous here!
Dawn
I think of a man in uniform-like in the Navy since you mentioned the water or the Air Force-since he can fly–hope he visits my website soon!
Hmm, maybe in a wetsuit. Although I always find that people in wetsuits make me think of ninjas.
I envision the Fairy Hobmother wearing something comfortable like jeans, sneakers, and a t-shirt! Congrats on his visit!
Another vote for jeans!
My kids swim competitively! Hmmm…a swimming fairy…I think my kids could use one of those when it comes to summer swimming races!
Oh the abs….(drifting off into space…)
Yes, I like a set of nice abs!
I like your thoughts on the Fairy Hobmother 😉
