April 20 & 21 – Mathemagician: Art Benjamin
If you love math and magic, don’t miss mathemagician Art Benjamin. He’ll demonstrate and teach how to do rapid-fire mental math faster than a calculator. Tickets are $3. Shows Wednesday at 12:30 & 2:30 pm; Thursday at 12:30 am & 1:30 pm
Earth Day Celebrations
April 23 – Bash the Trash
You’ll never think of the stuff in your recycling bin the same way again after you see this upbeat show. Bash the Trash starts with a fast-paced, funny performance that gives the scientific basics of sound, instruments, and instrument building, as well as driving home the environmental message of Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.  Then audience members can make amazing instruments and parade through the Science Center. Tickets are $4.75 per person. Joseph D. Williams Science Theater. One show at 1:00 pm.
April 23 & 24 –Trash Timeline – Do you know how long it takes thrown-away objects to disintegrate in a landfill? Try to put them in order from those that take the shortest time to degrade to those that take the longest …you may be surprised and… you’ll be inspired to recycle more! Free with paid admission or membership.12:00 – 3:00 pm.
April 23 & 24 – Make a Pot, Plant a Seed – Kids love caring for plants they grow themselves, and in this fun family activity, they can make a pot from newspaper, fill it with soil, and plant sunflower seeds. Then take it home to plant in a pot, on the terrace or in your garden. The birds will thank you! Free with paid admission or membership 12:00 – 3:00 pm.
Ongoing Tuesdays through Fridays – We Explore Young Learner Activities
We Explore is an enjoyable way to interact with your 2-5 year old at Liberty Science Center. With themes that change regularly and are relevant to the world around us, it is a great program to schedule play dates around. Free with paid admission or membership. The 30-minute program is offered every week on Tuesday- Friday at 10:30 am, 11:30 am and 2:00 pm in the I Explore Gallery. Free with paid admission or membership.
In the Nation’s Largest IMAX® Dome Theater
Through August 2011 – Tornado Alley
Hold onto your seats for Tornado Alley, a film starring the Sean Casey from Discovery Channel’s Storm Chasers and the VORTEX2 weather research team. They’ll take you straight into the heart of a monster tornado, one of the world’s most destructive weather phenomena. Seen on the nation’s largest IMAX® Dome screen, you’ll be blown away. Starts March 18 at 12:15 pm. Shows daily (except closed Mondays) at 10:15, 12:15 and 2:15 with an additional 4:15 show on weekends and holidays.
Through June, 2011 – Hubble
Viewers will be awed by sights formerly witnessed only in detail by astronauts and astronomers, going “along for the ride” as astronauts take spacewalks to repair and upgrade the complex Hubble space telescope, allowing it to see deep space objects in even more detail. Then shoot deep into space on a jaw-dropping “virtual flight” to see what we have learned about distant galaxies and “star nurseries.” Shows at 11:15 and 3:15 pm.
Through April 8 – India: Kingdom of the Tiger
Follow in the footsteps of Jim Corbett, the famed hunter-turned-naturalist as he works to protect villagers from a man-eating tiger while working to conserve tigers and their habitat. Spanning the era from 1910 to the present time, the film examines the history, development and environmental challenges India faces as a fast-growing nation with a rich biodiversity. Shows at 1:15 pm.
April 9 – June 30

Jane Goodall’s Wild Chimpanzees
Visit the Gombe Stream National Park in Tanzania to discover the world-changing research on wild chimpanzees conducted by renowned wildlife biologist Jane Goodall. Meet her now-famous chimpanzee subjects and get an up-close look at them as they hunt, play, and communicate with one another. See archival footage of Dr. Goodall in her early years at Gombe, and watch as Goodall’s relationship evolves from one of strictly scientific interest to one of devotion and a firm commitment to chimpanzee survival. Without her devotion, chimps might be nearing extinction, but even with it, their existence in the wild is tenuous. Join her quest to save the wild chimpanzee. Shows daily at 1:15.
In the J.D. Williams Science Theater
Now Showing – Mummies 3D film
In Mummies 3D, audiences will explore the fascinating world of Egypt through its ancient mummies and monuments. By using modern archaeological techniques to study mummies and their resting places, we learn more about ancient Egyptian culture, religion, medicine, and many other aspects of daily life. Daily at 10:00 am, 10:45 am, 12:45 pm and 2:45 pm through June 30.
Now Showing – Sea Rex 3D film
Experience a wondrous 20-minute 3D adventure as you join Julie, an imaginative young woman, as she takes a unique voyage through time and space. Explore an amazing underwater universe inhabited by larger-than-life creatures which ruled the seas millennia before dinosaurs conquered the Earth and get ready for a face-to-face encounter with the “T. rex of the sea!” Weekdays at 11:30 am and 1:30 pm with an additional 3:30 pm show on weekends and holidays.
