  1. Halloween tip- Make sure there is a responsible adult with CHILDREN at ALL times. And stay in neighborhoods you are familiar with.
    The glow in the dark converse are so cute! My kids would love those. I would get the red converse for my daughter and either Jordan Team Elite II Advance or Nike Air Force 1 Mid for my son.

  13. When I was a little girl just starting school, trick or treating was celebrated at Thanksgiving time. No fancy costumes back then but ragamuffin garb as money was tight in the 40’s even after the end of WWII. Times wefe simpler and more innocent. Too bad life has become so rushed and complicated.

    For Halloween safety: we always go with the girls, they do not go to doors by themselves. I buy those little glow sticks from the dollar store so they will be visible, and we start as early as we can, so we can be home and warm before it gets too dark!

    I always make sure my boys go trick-r-treating with an adult. They can go a couple feet of ahead but they all ways have to stay in the line of sight.

  113. One tip for safer trick or treating is to start early. We usually start when it’s still light out and are done by 8:00. I don’t like being out late on such a crazy night!!

A glow in the dark treat basket (or glolite inside of one) enables the kids to be seen better…well that’s really the same as in your article. hmmmm…We just keep a very watchful eye on our 3 year old & be sure to hold her hands when we cross the street, like always! Light up tennis shoes would be fun, too!

    From a Grandma’s point of view, I think the glow shoes are the best. If I won this fab giveaway, I would buy them for my 3 year old Granddaughter. I would be thinking safety and she would be thinking WOW!
    Safe treating: If possible don’t be home alone on Halloween. Sad, but there are alot of real monsters out there that could take advantage of an open door. If you live alone, it’s best to go to a friends house and risk getting your place tricked. If you must be alone and want to still hand out treats, have some background noise, TV, whatever, to make your house “feel” like there are others in it.

    A safety tip for Halloween trick or treating is to go to city, church, school sponsored events. That way you KNOW the items are safe:) Plus, they usually have FUN contests, games, etc. which is so much nicer than braving the elements and knocking on strangers doors.
