My little found a new favorite bedtime read. Just Right for Two always makes it into the bedtime story rotation.(we read a few) It is a wonderful story written in a way that my 3 year old can relate to.
“Dog’s big blue suitcase is the perfect fit for all the little treasures he has collected. He is sure that he is happy with just himself and his suitcase. Until one night when Mouse comes along, and Dog discovers that his big blue suitcase is actually just right for two. “
Dog is adorable. A little scruffy, but totally loveable. My son pointed out the bandana dog wears just like our puppy Charlie. Dog carries around his big blue suitcase everywhere. Inside were all his special treasures he has collected along the way. A pinecone, some dancing leaves, and a stick are some of the special things Dog holds dear to him. Dog has everything special to him safely packed away in his suitcase…or so he thought. When he woke up the next morning a tiny mouse was sleeping next to him on his suitcase. Dog explained to Mouse that everything he needed was in that big blue suitcase. Dog showed Mouse some of his special things then they played a game of hide-and-seek. What was supposed to be one tiny game, turned into a big game. Dog had so much fun! Mouse left and it wasn’t until then that suddenly Dog just didn’t feel right. He tried to cheer up by looking at all his treasures but that did not work. Something was missing. Dog went off to find Mouse figuring maybe he could help him. So Dog looked one way and Mouse the other. With no luck they end up bumping into each other. It wasn’t until then that Dog realized it was Mouse that he was missing. Both of them sat side by side on the suitcase and watched the moon rise together. The suitcase that once was just right for one, was now just right for two!
Just Right For Two
Friendship is so important. Just Right for Two is a great example of that. Relationships mean much more than any material thing. You could have everything you want in life but still be incredibly lonely. What fun are all those things with no one to share them with?
