It happened this morning. I walked in the door and noticed my personal things packed, and she said I have bad news I have to let you go. Then she hands me a letter saying I had been terminated as of Friday June 30. I tell her I suspected something was up Friday, she admits she knew Friday she was going to let me go. I ask why didn’t she tell me then and she replies that her and/or her husband wanted to wait until after the weekend. I tell her that seemed wrong, to have me drive and use the gas going in for her to let me go 5 minutes after I got there. I asked her to write me a letter for unemployment, she did. I asked her to write me a letter of recommendation, she says she doesn’t want to hurry, I asked her to have it ready when I pick up my check the next day. I remind her she should be able to say many good things about me, and if she writes the letter I’ll have a nice thing or two to say about her. I believe she missed the meaning. I realize in the car on the way home that the dates are incorrect and I bet they’re going to try and play games with my health insurance. I left her a voicemail asking her to correct it and fax it to me. I got home and faxed a letter asking for accrued vacation, corrected date of termination, and pay for the 4th of July holiday. I receive a voicemail telling me she’s faxed a draft of letter of recommendation, would I please edit as necessary and send it back to her. I check it out, it’s a form letter from a cd we had in the office containing 1001 letters used in an office. Also faxed is a letter now saying I was terminated on July 1. I filed my unemployment claim.
I’m fairly calm.
