The Hub First Annual #HubHalloweenBash – Tune In To @HubTVNetwork This Weekend

I am big on Halloween, but Frankenstorm 2012 spoiled it for us on the Jersey shore–no costumed toddlers to teens at the door, no parade, no trick or treating; just devastating mischief that turned our locale helter skelter. Thank goodness Halloween 2013 is here, and it is time for another show.
Must sees include:
#1 outdoor displays and decorations;
#2 Toms River’s annual parade, second largest in the world srpassed only by one in Greenwich Village;
#3 howlarious, spooktacular, mad genius, blast from the past, animal kingdom, and every day stuff costumes galore;
#4 Hub’s First Annual Halloween Bash, Saturday, October 26, 2013, 8:00-10:00 P. M. EST and 5:00-7:00 P. M. PST with 7-year old Jersey girl Victoria Kemp as one of its 50 semi-finalists.
I still don’t believe I got an invite to Barker Hangar, Santa Monica, California for this really big show. Thank you producers Bob Bain and Paul Flattery for the party that tops all parties.
Host Keenan Thompson, celebrities like Joey King, Nolan Gould, Zachary Gordon, Bailee Madison, Rico Rodriguez, and Todd Newton, and performers Cody Simpson, Fifth Harmony make Hub’s Halloween Bash really shine. The Paw-stume segments featuring Nancy O’Dell’s Buttercup, Tamara Mowry-Housley’s Milano, Candace Cameron Bure’s Samson, and Gina Rodriguez’s Casper and Ted pets is a heart stealer. Bill Nye makes science fun. Nathan Burton makes illusion magic.
I am glad it is judges Martha Stewart, Hal Sparks, and Coco Jones not I who get to judge costumes. The Hub Network, a destination for kids and their families, awarded “The Jackie” for the best Halloween costume of the year to Bill Freitag from Arizona, who won “Best in Bash” National Champion for his costume as “Invisible Cowboy” in the “Blast from the Past” category at the first-ever 50 State Halloween costume competition celebrated during the star-studded taping of the “Hub Network’s First Annual Halloween Bash,” this past Sunday at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif. The inaugural event, hosted by “Saturday Night Live” star Kenan Thompson, will be broadcast Saturday, October 26, 8–10 p.m. ET/5–7 p.m. PT on the Hub Network.
While in California for the taping of the Halloween Bash, I was given the opportunity to interview Hub top executive Ted Beaselli at a network brunch. I came away from in awe. What Hub has accomplished in its 10-10-10 joint Hasbro/Discovery venture is to return its channel to family focused daytime and prime time. Two thumbs up to both its acquired and original programming. Animated favorites like Chuck and Friends, Transformers, Pound Puppies, Littlest Pet Shop, My Little Pony, and NEW Sabrina, Secrets of a Teenage Witch rule as do live action favorites Goosebumps, The Haunting Hour, and NEW Spooksville.
It’s no wonder that Hub won an Emmy this year. Its daytime shows build gender neutral plots responsibly from a kid’s point of view without either dumb parents and adult or provocative, suggestively edgy situations. Its hows focus on stories, characters, and heart not on being commercials for the great child friendly classic toys and games that inspired them. Its primetime shows include classic television sitcoms, dramas, and feature films.
