Lately I have been seeing and hearing a lot of discussion about weight loss surgery. I worked with a very heavy man who gastric bypass surgery and within a year had lost half of his previous weight. After my recent surgery, I cannot imagine ever having another open abdominal surgery. So when I started hearing mention of lap band surgery, I was curious to learn what it was and how it was different.
Here’s how it’s different than gastric bypass. Lap band surgery is laparoscopic rather than open; it’s also reversible, adjustable, safer, and done on an outpatient basis. The doctor can actually adjust the size of your stomach, which I find a bit amazing.
I’m glad I decided to learn more about this procedure. I would never consider gastric bypass, but I might consider this. There’s some free seminars on it, I may check it out.
