When I first heard a little about Zhu Zhu pets I didn’t expect to hear much about them again. I thought they’d be one of those toy fads that quickly crashed. It would seem I may have been mistaken! Since that day about two months ago, I hear about these toys constantly. It seems they’re one of this year’s hottest toys.
Who’d have thought that a hamster with artificial intelligence would cause such a stir! I haven’t played with one myself but from the pictures I’ve seen online they look cute. Lucky for me my oldest son is 14, thereby making him exempt from any cuteness factor.
So what’s the ruckus about? I grant you, the fact that they can’t poop or reproduce makes them extremely appealing when compared to the real thing. Speaking of the real thing, I see that they have their very own Habitrail type of tubes to move about in. I don’t know if they can move around outside of the tubes like a real hamster. They can make up to 40 different sounds, depending on what they’re doing at the time. If you consider the cost of food and bedding for a real hamster, batteries probably cost about the same.
If you’re looking for one, don’t bother with your local store – they’re all out. You’re probably going to need to buy this one on the internet.
