MOM KNOWS IT ALL 2018 HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE – hulu Premium Streaming Service
if you’ve been reading Mom Knows It All for a little while you may recall that I wanted to “cut the cord” so I did some research on premium streaming services. It was during my two months of research that I became familiar with Hulu and fell in love. Hulu has become my go to for watching both tv series and originals. Why do I like Hulu with live tv? I can get episodes from today’s current tv series almost immediately, leaving no need to wait a whole season to watch. Hulu’s exciting live TV option enables more people to cut the cord connecting them to the forever rising prices of mainstream cable tv companies. No contracts, no equipment rentals, no remotes to lose! Hulu is perfect for today’s lifestyle and would make a great gift for anyone including yourself.
Update 09/22/18 – Hulu officially updated their site and customer dashboard this week. I’ve updated my post to reflect some info about the newly updated customer experience.
The product(s) featured in this post was provided at no cost to me. Please note that, as always, any personal opinions reflected in this post are my own and have not been influenced by the sponsor in any way.
Meet Hulu
Hulu is a leading premium streaming service that offers instant access to live and on demand channels, original series and films, and a premium library of TV and movies to more than 20 million subscribers in the U.S. Since its launch in 2008, Hulu has consistently been at the forefront of entertainment and technology. Hulu is the only streaming service that offers both ad-supported and commercial-free current season shows from the largest U.S. broadcast networks; libraries of hit TV series and films; and acclaimed Hulu Originals including Emmy® and Golden Globe® Award-winning drama The Handmaid’s Tale, Emmy®-nominated series I Love You, America With Sarah Silverman, Emmy®-nominated series The Looming Tower, Future Man, Marvel’s Runaways, Castle Rock, The First and Golden Globe-nominated comedy Casual, as well as upcoming series Catch-22, Ramy and Little Fires Everywhere. In 2017, Hulu added live news, entertainment and sports from 21st Century Fox, The Walt Disney Company, NBCUniversal, CBS Corporation, The CW, Turner Networks, A+E Networks and Scripps Networks Interactive to its offerings – making it the only TV service that brings together live, on-demand, originals, and library content all in one place, across living room and mobile devices.
The newly designed hulu.com is optimized for the web, and makes it easier than ever for you to get to the content you want. For the past year or so Hulu has worked on refining the new website to incorporate user feedback along with new, compelling features, updates and configurations that make the most out of the wide range of motion you have with your mouse and how quickly you’re able to point and click.
Folks new to Hulu will be asked to choose things they are most interested in when signing up. This is to help Hulu make suggestions on what to watch that are closest to your viewing interests, habits and tastes.
Once you are on the Home screen you have quick and easy access to everything. You can access your favorite things, located in My Stuff. You can discover new shows, and easily play them or add them to your stuff. If you get to the point that you have found so many shows you love and you can’t start anything new right at that moment you can stop suggestions from appearing. Don’t worry, when you’re ready you can turn them back on if you like.
If you watch on the web as I do there are even more great features available exclusively on the hulu website.
- (For Sports Fans) Multiple Games on Multiple Windows: If you’re invested in multiple games that are airing at the same time, you don’t have to miss a moment of the action— you can watch on multiple windows in your browser, depending on your live TV subscription.
- Chromecast Casting for Web: When your computer is on the same network as your Chromecast device, a cast icon will appear in the player and allow you to seamlessly cast the programming you’re tuned into on the Web straight to your TV screen.
- Picture-in-Picture: With this feature, you can continue watching your favorite programming while you browse the rest of the UI. Just click the “minimize” button in the bottom right corner of the player to activate picture-in-picture viewing. From there, you’ll be able to move the small player anywhere on your screen while you multitask.
