2016 HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE – Wonderhood Creative Building Toys

Hi there! I am Shaun – I’m a New Hampshire native who likes to drop my Rs and use the word “wicked” with enthusiasm. I will argue that Maine lobster is best and that New England Clam Chowder should not have tomatoes in it. I’m married to my HS sweetheart, Marc, and together we are raising Paige (b May 2010) and Brody (b December 2015). We also have 2 very friendly cats who think they rule the house. We were lucky enough to receive the Wonderhood Corner Shops Creative Building set. With 38 pieces, and made out of a durable plastic, we were able to create so many different designs of the shops! Included in our kit was Emmie, a young girl who lives in Wonderhood. Her journal gives insight to the character (favorite color, family members, pets, etc) and also allows the kid to write and record their own thoughts! Here’s a complete product description.

Here at Wonderhood, we want to empower girls to be the architects of their own futures. We keep hearing the statistics that girls feel they can’t or don’t pursue their interests in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Inspired by our own daughters, we decided to take action. Girls need to know that ANY future they can imagine for themselves is within reach. They just need the tools and confidence, and that starts at a very young age, with play. So we’ve tossed aside traditional notions about how girls should and shouldn’t play and created a brand new vision.
Wonderhood is a new line of creative building toys for girls age 5 and up, designed to engage both their scientific and creative sides. Wonderhood building sets foster STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) skills through their unique open-ended design using plastic Design Panels – there are no detailed instructions or models to copy – the possibilities are endless! Girls can create whatever they dream up, using their own imagination, spatial and fine-motor skills, and problem-solving. They are imaginative, fun, and give girls the confidence and skills they need to be anything they want to be. We believe that everyone benefits from this, and everyone can have fun with Wonderhood.
Wonderhood’s debut building sets come in two themes – Wonderhood Corner Shops and Wonderhood Grand Hotel. To build, girls connect beautifully illustrated, durable plastic Design Panels that spark the imagination and inspire girls to invent stories. Sturdy construction and the included figurines allow girls to really play with their creations and act out adventures.
An Activity Journal is also included with every set, introducing fun female lead characters as role models – like Chelsea, a budding architect, and Emmie, a super star food scientist. Girls can solve the Journal’s Design Challenges, and record their own design ideas too.
The third product in Wonderhood’s debut line, the Wonderhood Kids figurine pack, enhances girls’ imaginative play experience with four additional characters.
