I don’t know if you’ll recall this but not long ago I shared information on the first wheelchair accessible SUV, which should be available this fall. That vehicle is built on the Ford Explorer. I currently drive an older Explorer. I haven’t driven anything newer than a 2010 (I think that’s the year my brother has, which I drove once.) I’ve been wanting to drive the new model and soon I will finally get the opportunity.
In celebration of the launch of the 2016 Ford Explorer Platinum, Ford is hosting the Platinum Adventure Tour. The tour is a big 2,000 mile media drive event that will take place over a couple of weeks in September. The first leg of the tour kicks off on August 30th in British Columbia. From there the tour will travel through parts of Canada and then drop down into the United States, ending down in New Mexico on September 23rd.
I am thrilled to say that I will be one of the folks driving on the second leg of the tour, which begins in Kamloops and finishes in Calgary. I have never been to this area of Canada. I am really excited at the thought of this roadtrip, in the new 2016 Ford Explorer Platinum. I have driven a couple of Ford models that carried the Platinum trim package and I’ve always really liked the features and comfort. I can’t wait to see how they’ve incorporated them into the best selling SUV in the United States, with over 7 million sold.
The only three-night stay on the Platinum Adventure Tour, this drive begins in Kamloops, British Columbia, crosses the Canadian Rockies and ends in Calgary. You’ll overnight in Revelstoke, near majestic Glacier National Park, home to more than 400 glaciers where 12 percent of the landscape is covered by perpetual ice and snow. There’s cerulean Lake Louise, and lovely Moraine Lake boasts views for which there are no words, though you can try. The best way to top off a day of driving Explorer Platinum? A gondola ride in Banff, or a scenic drive around Lake Minnewanka – we promise – would be unlike any exploration that’s come before.
Doesn’t that sound exciting?! I can’t wait! I am really looking forward to seeing a region I’ve never been to before. I am looking forward to driving a beautiful vehicle through a beautiful area. I plan on sharing lots of photos and thoughts on the vehicle. We’ll be using the hashtag #ExploreMore during our leg of the tour, as will the folks on the other legs as well. We actually have a 2013 Ford Explorer Sport and love it! We just saw the commercials for the redesigned explorer and it is a beautiful car! You will really enjoy driving it! I would be interested in what choices you have for the interior color of the 2016 Platinum – we were limited to 2 colors with the sport (brown and black). I always pack for a car trip in layers! That way you are always comfortable for the drive.ew

I have been all over the United States but must admit that I haven’t spent any time in Canada, though I would love to. It seems like such a beautiful place to explore and this car is the best to do it in.

Oh man, I’d love to get my bottom in the seat of the new Explorer. I had one for years and loved it. I do miss it so.
The explorer is the perfect outdoor vehicle especially when the terrain is rough. This can really go on any terrain.
