Febreze Air Purifier
I like things that smell good. I am that person that is in the shampoo aisle opening the bottles and smelling them. I do the same in the laundry detergent aisle. Like many people, I like it when my house smells good. And I don’t like it when my house smells bad. Having a dog, a cat, two boys, a husband and a busy life can sometimes make keeping the house smelling nice a bit challenging, which is why you will usually find a can or bottle of Febreze in my living room. Before people come over I give a quick dust and spritz, which makes things seem more pleasant and welcome. Sadly, dust always comes back, and eventually so does stale air. Febreze recognized that families face a number of different issues that impact the cleanliness of the air in their homes and responded to those issues by creating the Febreze Air Purifier.
The Febreze Air Purifier has a powerful Energy Star qualified HEPA-Type filter that traps up to 99% of airborne particles such as dust, pollen, pet dander and odors. The Febreze Air Purifiers are available in three different sizes:

  • Tabletop – SRP $64.99. Available in white. Ideal for small rooms to 85 sq. ft.
  • Mini Tower – SRP $74.99. Available in white and graphite gray. Ideal for small rooms to 85 sq. ft.
  • Tower – SRP $94.99. Available in white and graphite gray. Ideal for medium to large rooms to 170 sq. ft.

We received the Tower model of the Febreze Air Purifier. The unit is actually surprisingly sleek and modern looking. It’s super easy to set up and use. After taking it out of the box you install the scent cartridge in it’s receptacle on the top of the unit. Then you install the two air filters on the side of the unit. Filters last up to four months. Once those are done plug the unit into the wall. There are three air-cleaning levels, you select which you want on the dial on top of the unit. Dirt particles and odors are drawn into the unit through the fan. The fan is pretty quiet when on low and gets a little louder with each higher level. The dual-action filters trap those particles and odors, helping clean the air.
Along with filtering the impurities out of your air it also leaves behind the fresh Febreze scent you know and love already. The unit comes with one scent cartridge that can last up to thirty days. You can choose how strong you want the scent to be by adjusting the dial on the top of the unit. There are currently two different scents available – linen & sky, and spring & renewal.
I thought the Febreze Air Purifier would be heavy. It isn’t at all, it’s actually pretty light. It could easily be moved between rooms if you had the need. It isn’t a big honking unit like some air pirifiers, it stands just a tiny bit over 2 foot high. We’re currently using the linen & sky cartridge, which smells sort of like a mixture between clean laundry and a lovely, clear spring day. Since putting this air purifier in I have noticed less dust. I also noticed I don’t have the urge to spray Febreze as often as I did before to freshen the room. The scent is pleasant enough but I’m really hoping that the folks at Febreze come out with some additional scents in the future. If you’re concerned about running out of scent cartridges or filters you can get automatic filter and scent replacement reminders. All in all the Febreze Air Purifier is a great way to help improve the quality of your indoor air and help keep things smelling good.

If you’re one of the many people that needs a little help getting things as clean as you might like, here are some cleaning tips from Julie Edelman, the Accidental Housewife.

  • Sports Stains: Pre-treating is key! For grass stains, use a solution of water and vinegar or hydrogen peroxide. Just make sure to test out a small patch first to make sure the solution doesn’t affect the colors of the shirt. For mud stains, let them dry and scrape off as much as possible. Then, cut a raw potato in half and rub it all over the stain. The juices in the potato act as an enzyme to clear up the stain. TIP: Don’t use hot water. It can actually set a stain.
  • Ditch the Dust: No matter how neat and clean you try to be, dust has sneaky a way of collecting on surfaces throughout your home. Try the Febreze Air Purifier to help capture airborne particles before they settle, reducing the levels of airborne dust that can accumulate on furniture and counters.
  • When Your Wall Becomes A Work Of Art: For colored markers spray the wall with hairspray and immediately wipe before it can drip down or dry. For crayons, you can put a dab of toothpaste on a toothbrush and gently wipe it out, or rub with a dampened microfiber cloth and baking soda.
  • Embarrassing Pet Odors: We love our furry friends, but we’re not so fond of the embarrassing pet odor that they leave around the house—from kitty litter and pet mishaps to wet dog smell. Try using the Febreze Air Purifier to reduce odors and add a fresh, clean scent back into the air.
  • Move Over, Must: Your basement smells musty, but you don’t know what to do? The carpeted floor is most likely the culprit. Carpet fibers hang on to dust particles and moisture, which can make the basement smell musty. Sprinkle some corn starch or baby powder, let it sit for 20 to 30 minutes, then suck it up with your vacuum. You can also use a dehumidifier to reduce moisture in the air. HINT: To help capture those dust particles before they even have a chance to hit the carpet, keep a Febreze Air Purifier in your basement.

And here’s a short video with some more helpful tips for fighting daily dirt and odors around the house.

What room in your home could really use a Febreze Air Purifier?

  1. I would love one for our living room. My daughter spends much of her day there. Anything I can do to keep her healthier is a good thing.

  2. Our bedroom! When we sleep we really need the clean air I think. Having 3 cats and 1 dog and plus with me not being the best housekeeper in the world, we really need a purifier for that room. Hubby has asthma too so he especially needs it!

  3. I would love to put in my twins room. They have only one window and I don’t open it since it’s on the second floor. This would be great!

  4. My bedroom. I’m allergic to cats, but love them so I have one. She sleeps in my room with me and it’d be nice to have this to help with the stuffy nose! I don’t have the heart to kick her out 🙂

  5. My bedroom. My allergist told me I should have an air purifier because of my dermatographia. Also…I’ll be honest, I have night sweats, so the scented cartridge is a plus!

  6. My husband has asthma and has trouble sleeping at night, especially in the spring. This would be great for our bedroom!

  7. We have a huge decorative window in our front room that doesn’t open. I’d put this in there because I hate that it’s hard to get fresh air in there.

  8. I would love to try the Febreeze Air Purifier in the Family Room where we spend most of our waking hours!

  9. I would love this for our family room, where all the kids and pets congregate! Thank you for the wonderful giveaway.

  10. I would use this in the living room near the back of the room. We have a very small home and that would put this almost in the center of the house.

  11. I would place this at the end of the hallway. That area often can use freshening up. It also is near at hand to put in one of the bedrooms or workroom when closets are cleaned or dust gets stirred up.

  12. i would use it in the home office. With 2 of us working in there every day and it being the warmest roomin the house, it can get pretty smelly.

  13. I would use in Living Room, where our little ones spend most time, we have one with breathing problem, this might help.

  14. Id put this in the living room as that is where the dogs are most of the time and it connects to the kitchen which is where they are baby gated while I’m at work.

  15. This would actually be a gift for my sister. She has entered the final stage of COPD and I would love for her to have this. It might help her have a longer life.

  16. I recently found out I am allergic to something in my house (have hives only at home). I can’t wait to get into the allergist to figure out what it is. I’ve already bought 2 air purifiers, but would like one for every room!

  17. I would love to have this for my living room. I have 6 cats and I want to freshen up my house. Linda Bradshaw , teachinmomma123abc at yahoo dot com

  18. I’d love to have this in my bedroom, the Long Island Expressway is right outside my window and the exhaust comes in, even with the windows closed!

  19. I would use this in my living room. We have several cats and dogs, and this is very much needed around here.

  20. I would put this in the living room. We have our newborn sons dresser in the living room and it is also his changing table. That means stinky diapers are being changed there all the time. We need this to freshen up the air in that area.

  21. I would keep it in the living room because that’s where my family spends most of the time and my son has allergies so this would help combat some of his symptoms.

  22. I’d love to have this in the corner of our family room, between that room & the front room! That’s where we all gather, so that would be the perfect place for some cleaner, healthier air!

  23. My living room really needs an air purifier. We both have seasonal allergies and for some reason my house gets dusty immediately after I dust.

  24. I would put this in our family room. We have our woodstove in this room and this would help with the dust and wood particles and smoke that can linger in the air.

  25. i could use this in my living room i have 2 dogs and 2 cats and i always worry about how my house smells
