I learned how to read very early. Not only did my Mom teach me how to read, she taught me that it can be enjoyable. Once I knew how magical and fun that reading could be, I couldn’t get enough of it. I’d read when I was supposed to be doing homework. I’d read when I was supposed to be practicing dance. I’d read when I was supposed to be delivering newspapers. I still love to read to this day, although I don’t have as much time to do so as I’d like.

Reading itself is timeless. Some of the many benefits of reading are that it helps kids learn as well as develop creative and critical thinking, encourage analytical and memory skills, and builds the imagination. While there is and should always be a place and time for kids to read, the method of delivery has changed. We still have opportunity to read paperback and hard cover books, but electronic books are growing in popularity.
Electronic books are like traditional books in many ways, including cost. As a young child I frequently went through one or more books a day. I can’t even imagine how my Mom was able to keep up with the expense. It’s too bad that Epic! wasn’t available back then.

  3. I absolutely love the idea of a book subscription service for kids! I was (and still am) an avid reader and could never keep enough books on hand! I also like that they offer audiobooks as they are helpful for kids who struggle with reading!

  4. My son has been reading so many books lately, it’s tough to keep up with him! I may look into a subscription for the summer, thanks for the recommendation!
