As a mom to a 3 year old I am always on the look out for new books. My little one usually makes me read books a couple times in a row and Dinosaur Kisses was no exception! He loved it. The illustrations in the book are absolutely adorable. The illustrations were done in what appear to be watercolor and are outlined in bold black.
“For newly hatched dinosaur Dinah, the world is an exciting place. There is so much to see and do. She tries this — STOMP! And she tries that — CHOMP! Then she sees a kiss and knows just what she wants to try next. Who can she kiss? And after a few disastrous attempts, can she figure out how to give someone a kiss without whomping, chomping, or stomping them first? Young children will chuckle and cheer when Dinah finds just the right creature for her dinosaur kisses in this funny new picture book from David Ezra Stein. “
Dinah is the cute little dinosaur who is the star of the book. Freshly hatched, the world is all very exciting and very new. She sees a kiss and decided that she would try that next. Only thing is Dinah does not know how to kiss. She winds up biting, stomping, and accidentally eating the lizard she tried to kiss! Stomp! Chomp! Whomp! After a couple of failed attempts Dinah returned to her egg to think and another little baby dinosaur had hatched.(and just as cute as Dinah!) Dinah finally found the perfect friend to give her special dinosaur kisses to! There were many giggles during the reading. My son really enjoyed the book but I am really glad we didn’t do this as a bedtime story! (we have enough troubles in that area!) He got really excited with his own stomping and whomping that bedtime just would not have happened. If you have little ones Dinosaur kisses would make a perfect gift for Valentine’s Day.

Aw, that looks so sweet. My kids are on the tail end of the age range for this, but I think they’d still enjoy it. 🙂
