Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Hard Luck, the eighth book in Jeff Kinney’s blockbuster series, was released on November 5th and is sure to be the biggest children’s book release this year. “I’m incredibly excited about Hard Luck. I think the cover is our strongest yet, and the book has been a ton of fun to write,” said Jeff Kinney. “As a writer, there’s something wickedly satisfying about putting Greg Heffley under duress, and in the eighth book, Greg suffers a multitude of indignities. But this time around he has a secret weapon against the slings and arrows of middle school.” In Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Hard Luck, Greg Heffley’s on a losing streak. His best friend, Rowley Jefferson, has ditched him, and finding new friends in middle school is proving to be a tough task. To change his fortunes, Greg decides to take a leap of faith and turn his decisions over to chance. Will a roll of the dice turn things around, or is Greg’s life destined to be just another hard-luck story?

My 9 year old daughter first was introduced to the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series when she picked up one of the books at her school library. Always the little bookworm, she flew through it in a few hours and has been a super-fan since, picking up any others in the series she can find. I am totally ok with that because I’ve fallen in love with the books myself! I think they are just the right amount of story and humor rolled into one book and the illustrations always make her chuckle. It’s important for kids to have fun reading and this series is perfect for engaging that love for reading in kids. Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Hard Luck falls right in line with the series and is sure to have kids begging for even more!

We love this series! One of our favorites!
These sounds like such cute books. My daughter is a little young yet, but I think she’ll like them when she gets older.
My kids aren’t quite old enough for these yet, but they sure look funny!
My daughter is just getting into reading chapter books and this seems like something that is right up her alley, I will have to check this book out for her.
Such a funny series! So cool they still make these books.
Back in my day books were mostly print. If illustrations can turn kids back into reading, yea.
My son would love this book!
