Does the man in your life love to watch television and movies? No? What about you? Do you have a lot of remotes at your house? Have you lost a remote and need to replace it? Universal remotes are a popular solution to these common problems. I used to chuckle at universal remotes. Obviously a remote can be lost but I didn’t quite understand why someone would want one. Then we got a home theater system, and then a DVR. Depending on what we’re watching (tv, DVD, etc.) we have to have up to three remotes on the coffee table when we’re watching something. It’s pretty crazy. I can now see the value in a universal remote that can operate all of your components.
The Logitech Harmony 610 Universal Remote can replace up to five separate remote controls, and supports 225,000 devices from 5,000 brands. Just some of the things it can control include televisions, satellite boxes, cable boxes, DVD and Blu-ray players. It takes three AAA batteries. You do need a PC running Windows Vista or XP or a Macintosh computer running OS X 10.3 or above to set up the remote. You connect the remote to your USB port and choose what you want to set the remote up for and how you want to use it.
The Logitech Harmony 610 Universal Remote regularly sells for $99.99. It’s currently on sale at Buy for $47.79 and qualifies for free shipping. That’s almost a 50% savings! There’s still time to order this for Father’s Day if you hurry.

Lost the remote to the vcr/dvd player. Does this one require the old one to program?
