There’s a new movie coming on on DVD August 18th and it’s a great one to watch with your kids and teens! Catching Faith is a movie about integrity and doing the right thing, even when no one catches you doing something wrong. It is a lesson I have tried to instill in my kids as they grew up and I’m sure you did, too.
Sometimes watching a movie about a tough topic can make an even greater impact on your teen. We usually have a family night at home with pizza every Saturday evening. We started this when our 6 kids were pretty young and to this day, it is one of their favorite memories of home and something they request when they visit!

The movie, Catching Faith, is about a family that appear to have a perfect life. The Dad is a sucessful businessman, the wife is beautiful, the son is a football star and the daughter is the top of her class. They are a Christian family and do whatever it takes to fit their perfect roles. Then the son is caught drinking and decisions have to be made about doing the right thing or not. The parents make a tough choice to do what is right no matter what and they expect their kids to do the same. The town is very judgmental toward the family and the family has to cling to their faith and have courage to keep doing what is right.
I enjoyed this movie a lot. In the beginning, I pretty much decided that I wasn’t going to like it because of the stereotypes depicted in the movie that made me cringe. Those stereotypes are dealt with in the storyline which made me happy! The family in the movie pulls together and becomes a stronger family and they all learn to have a stronger faith.
This is really a great movie to start some good conversations with your kids about doing what is right, integrity, faith and family. Just in time for school to start, this is a good way to introduce these topics that all kids will deal with at some point.
