SYNOPSIS

The Fox and the Hound 30th Anniversary Synopsis
When Tod, an orphaned fox cub meets Copper, a coonhound puppy, they make a pledge to be lifelong friends, not realizing that Copper is being groomed to hunt wild animals, including foxes. Copper spends the winter with his owner, Slade, and an older dog, Chief, tracking animals at a remote cabin. When they return, a lonely Tod eagerly greets his old playmate but is stunned when a reluctant Copper joins Slade and Chief to chase Tod through the forest. During the pursuit, Tod escapes but Chief is seriously injured. Seeking revenge, Copper hunts down Tod only to find himself confronting an even bigger enemy, which he and Tod must face together.
The Fox and the Hound 2 Synopsis
In The Fox and the Hound 2, music takes centerstage as Tod contemplates joining up with “The Singin’ Strays,” a group of harmonizing dogs appearing at the local county fair but dreaming of hitting the big time at the Grand OleOpry. While Tod does his best to fit in with his new friends, Copper finds himself relegated to “roadie,” a position he begins to resent. With the encouragement of Dixie, the “diva” of “The Singin” Strays,” Copper manages to sabotage an important audition. The next day, their differences forgotten, Copper and Tod team up and, using Copper’s superior tracking skills, they locate the Grand Ole Opry talent scout who signs “The Singin’ Strays” (minus Tod, who chooses his friendship with Copper over fame) on the spot.

MY THOUGHTS
I received the Blu-ray/DVD Combo Pack of The Fox And The Hound I And II 30th Anniversary Movie Collection. I’d never seen The Fox And The Hound so I was very excited to be able to see it. The Fox And the Hound is about two young animals – Tod, a red fox, and Cooper, a hound dog. In the beginning of the movie Tod’s mother is killed and he finds a home with the kind Widow Tweed. The Widow’s next door neighbor Amos gets a new hunting dog, Cooper, at the same time. The young fox and the puppy become best friends. Amos returns for hunting season and both of the animals have grown into young adults. Tod believes that his friendship with Cooper will remain the same, others warn him that because Cooper is a hunting dog the relationship will be different now. As it turns out, Tod is wrong. Cooper has been raised by Amos with a hunting instinct. He corners Tod and let’s him go, telling him it is the only time he will ever do that. Seeing the problem, the Widow Tweed decides Tod must leave, and she takes him to a game preserve where he can live safely. He is confused at first but over time makes new friends. Amos isn’t ready to give up, and takes Cooper to the preserve to hunt Tod. A wild bear attacks Cooper and Tod tries to save his friend, falling over the edge of a waterfall in the process. When he finally reaches dry land, Cooper is there with Amos not far behind. Amos tries to shoot tod and Cooper doesn’t let him. At that point Amos gives up on his quest to get the fox and Tod and Cooper enjoy memories of growing up friends.

The Fox And The Hound II is far more musical than the first, containing lots of talented musical performances from stars Mickey Rooney, Corey Feldman, Kurt Russell, Patrick Swayze, Reba McEntire and more. The second movie tell the story of how Tod and Cooper have joined a band of stray dogs. When the time comes to do their best in an audition for a spot at the Grand Ole Opry Cooper purposely tries to lessen the band’s chance. He realizes what he’s done and realizes that friendship is more important then fame.
