ABOUT PARANORMAN
From the makers of Coraline comes the story of Norman, a boy who must use his special powers to save his town from a centuries-old curse. In addition to spooky zombies, he’ll also have to take on unpredictable ghosts, wily witches and, worst, of all, clueless grown-ups. But this young ghoul whisperer will soon find his paranormal activities pushed to their otherworldly limits. Featuring the voice talents of Kodi Smit-McPhee, Anna Kendrick, Casey Affleck, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Leslie Mann, Jeff Garlin and John Goodman, it’s a frightfully funny tale for the whole family.

MY THOUGHTS
I received a copy of Paranorman. The main character, Norman, is a boy who sees and talks to dead people. Norman is a lonely boy with no friends. Most people around him, family included, don’t really believe him and think he’s basically crazy. He’s picked on and bullied in school. Norman’s only friend is another child that is bullied, Neil. Norman winds up with the responsibility of having to save the town from an attack by zombies and witches, courtesy of a curse that a young witch placed on it before she died hundred of years earlier. He earns this responsibility from Mr Prenderghast, a seemingly crazy old man that lived in his town. Apparently Mr Prenderghast could also see dead people and had to pass the responsibility on to Norman before he died. To save the town Norman must go to the grave of the witch and read a passage. If this passage is not read over the witch’s grave every year then the people that killed the witch will return as zombies. Norman, accompanied by his sister Courtney, his new friend Neil and Neil’s older brother Mitch, and Alvin the bully, tries his best to carry out his task but fails. As the dead come to life for the whole town to see Norman must work even harder to stop the ghost of the dead witch. I really enjoyed this movie. Norman begins as a bullied child and an underdog. You’ll have to watch to find out why the passage must be read to the witch, and what happens to the town but I can tell you that by the end of the movie people accept Norman for who he is.
Here’s a trailer.
And here’s a clip on the Facial Expressions.
