SYNOPSIS
At “Prom”, every couple has a story and no two are exactly alike. MY THOUGHTS
I well remember the days of Prom, and wondering if anyone would ask me or who I might go with. I had to go to one prom with my cousin. There had been boys I wanted to go with, two of them in fact. Somehow I asked both. Both found out that I’d asked the other and neither would go. But that’s another story. Anyway.
Prom is about the Brookside High Prom and everything that leads up to it. The characters in the movie are all different – “it” girl Nova, bad boy Jesse, top athlete Tyler, beauty queen Jordan, shy guy Lloyd, laid back dude Rolo and the couple that’s dated since middle school Mei & Justin. Here’s a quick look at them.

This is a very family friendly movie, containing no sex or bad language. The movie is about relationships. Each of the characters has their own problem and their own way of dealing with it. All of the Prom decorations that Nova’s committee worked had to create are destroyed in a fire. Everyone including the principal considers Jesse to be an outsider, and a loser. As punishment for riding his motorcycle on the field, the principal assigns Jesse to help her redo the decorations. Jesse doesn’t want to help Nova and Nova can’t see how someone who obviously dislikes people and the idea of prom can help. Mei and Justin have dated for four years and now have their college years all planned out. But Justin doesn’t know that Mei has been accepted to a college in New York, and that she wants to go. Jordan dumps Tyler after realizing that he’s been cheating on her. Lloyd’s just too shy to ask a girl to prom. Some of the funniest moments in the movie revolved around Lloyd. Look what happens after he receives advice to just be himself and find a date.

Lloyd’s troubles continue, of course.

But at least he has someone to commiserate with, right?

I won’t tell you who ends up going to the prom and with who, you’ll have to watch for yourself to see that. Let’s just say that prom is on everyone’s mind, and that not everything turns out the way you think it will. RB and I actually enjoyed the movie and I’d say it’d be a good choice for your pre-teen or teen.
